Sonos products are available now in the UK and EU from Computers Unlimited (22/6/2005)

Computers Unlimited today announced that they have begun shipping the award-winning Sonos(tm) Digital Music System, adding vendor Sonos to their new Digital Home group portfolio.

The Sonos Digital Music System is a multi-zone digital music system with a wireless, full-colour LCD screen controller that lets consumers play all of their digital music, all over their home, while controlling it all from the palm of their hand.

"We are very excited to add Sonos to our Digital Home portfolio," said CU Product Manager Jez Hildred, who brought the vendor on board and has been pioneering CU's Digital Home efforts. "They really represent the best in new technology: easy-to-use products that are styled to fit into even the most elegant homes.

"CU plan to be one of the key players in the European Digital Home space and Sonos have similar ambitions, so a partnership was logical," Hildred continued. "We both aim to achieve our goals by delivering market-leading products to an emerging channel in ways that make it easy and profitable for resellers no matter what their business model."

The key to this is the creation of a selective channel of Authorised Partners, said Hildred, ensuring resellers who invest in Sonos will be able to add value to the products and get rewarded for doing so.

Sonos products are immediately available for UK and EU consumers at www.eu.sonos.com and www.uk.sonos.com as well as from qualified resellers in the UK and Holland. Sonos will expand retail availability to additional European countries in the coming months. CU offer an introductory bundle of two Sonos(tm) ZonePlayers and a Sonos(tm) Controller to UK Authorised Partners. Since the system is scalable to provide consumers up to 32 zones of music, additional ZonePlayers and Controllers are sold separately.

"The digital music wave is breaking across Europe as demonstrated by the Apple iPod(r) phenomenon," said Ingvar Meijers, Director of Sales Europe and MEA, Sonos, Inc. "Sonos is here to help European digital music lovers enjoy their growing collections all over their homes and control it all from the palm of their hand."

The Sonos Digital Music System consists of two components: the Sonos ZonePlayer is a networked audio player that distributes, plays and amplifies music, and the Sonos Controller is a wireless handheld device with a full-colour LCD screen so you can access, customise and control your music from virtually anywhere. It's like having a giant jukebox at your fingertips. Sonos liberates the music that's stored on your PC, Mac, Linux box or network storage so you can listen to it wherever and whenever you want.
