NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder Brings Home Theater Quality
to PCs For TiVoToGo Content Playback (22/6/2005)
NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder Designed to Deliver
Superior PC Playback Experience
NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) , a worldwide
leader in graphics and digital media processors, today announced
its NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder has been approved by TiVo Inc. for
playing content using the TiVoToGo(TM) feature. New this year, the
TiVoToGo feature allows TiVo(R) subscribers to transfer recorded
television programs from their TiVo Series2(TM) DVR to their PC
for viewing anywhere, anytime. Watching a program on a PC that has
been recorded on a TiVo DVR requires the use of an MPEG-2 decoder,
such as the NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder, which employs sophisticated
algorithms to decode and enhance television content.
"NVIDIA has once again risen above the rest,"
said Eyal Akler, CEO of Hypersonic PC Systems. "The NVIDIA PureVideo
Decoder provides a beautiful, crisp picture while playing smooth
video. When Hypersonic first introduced the EPIC DMR [Media Center
PC] a number of decoders were thoroughly tested with MCE 2005 video
playback and the clear choice was NVIDIA. Other decoders exhibited
some problems such as playback with jagged lines, washed out colors
and blurriness, especially with fast motion. The NVIDIA decoder
did not suffer from any of these complications. The NVIDIA PureVideo
Decoder, paired with a GeForce 6 Series video card, provides image
quality that is simply beyond comparison."
The NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder combines the
high quality DVD and MPEG-playback with rich Dolby(R) Digital surround
sound. Also featuring hardware-accelerated video on all Microsoft(R)
DirectX(R)-compatible graphics processors, the NVIDIA PureVideo
Decoder delivers unmatched color fidelity and smooth DVD, video,
and TV viewing.
The NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder is the best
way to experience NVIDIA PureVideo technology -- a combination of
hardware and software technologies that raise the video capabilities
of today's desktop and notebook PCs. PureVideo on a NVIDIA GeForce(TM)
6 Series GPU enables such features as spatial temporal de-interlacing,
inverse telecine, and bad edit correction -- all of which eliminate
jaggies and blurriness for a sharp picture, even in scenes with
a lot of motion.
"With TiVoToGo, TiVo subscribers can take
their favorite shows with them to enjoy wherever they want," said
Scott Vouri, general manager of multimedia at NVIDIA. "That experience
shouldn't suffer just because they've moved content from their TVs
to their laptops. We've made an extended investment in our decoder
and it really shows. We believe our colors and picture acuity, even
in high motion scenes, are appreciably better."
Starting at $19.95, NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder
is available for download in three editions: Bronze, Gold, and Platinum.
The software is also available free of charge for a 30-day trial.
