Toshiba Announces Next-Generation, High-Value Qosmio

"Four-in-One" Audio-Visual Notebook Features Digital Convergence
Design, Upgraded Configuration
Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD),
a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. and provider
of industry-leading portable computers, projectors and other mobile-related
services and products celebrating Toshiba's 20th anniversary of
the first mass-marketed laptop computer, today announced the Qosmio(TM)
F25-AV205, an affordable "four-in-one" digital entertainment notebook
with a new attractive design and upgraded features.
Scheduled to be available in July 2005 with
an estimated single unit price of $1,999(1), the Qosmio F25-AV205
offers consumers a 15.4-inch diagonal widescreen TruBrite(TM) display,
Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Media Center Edition 2005 and integrated
TV tuner, digital video recorder (DVR), read/write DVD/CD player,
virtual surround-sound stereo and all the capabilities of a powerful,
full-featured notebook PC.
Starting under eight pounds(2), Qosmio F25-AV205
features a new digital convergence design, including a sleek black
finish, large volume dial that can be accessed when the unit is
closed, stylized edging and black control buttons.
Upgraded features inside include a 100 GB
5400 rpm hard drive(3), 1024 MB DDR2 memory(4), NVIDIA GeForce 6
GO 6600 graphics(5) accelerator with 64 MB DDR SDRAM, and a fixed
DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive compatible with current DVD formats.
The optical drive can nearly double storage capacity in DVD+R format.
"The Qosmio F25-AV205 offers all the quality
and `four-in-one' AV functionality associated with the Qosmio line
at an extremely reasonable price," said Taro Hiyama, vice president
of marketing for Toshiba's Digital Products Division. "Movies, music,
television, gaming, Internet and personal computing converge in
a portable device for the entire family."
The F25-AV205 features the QosmioPlayer,
allowing users to watch TV, DVDs or listen to CDs with a quick touch
of a button on the unit or the remote control without booting up
the Windows operating system. With this feature, Qosmio owners can
enjoy audio or video content within seconds just as if they were
using a stand-alone TV, stereo or DVD player.
For optimum viewing, QosmioEngine software
is included for enhanced video clarity and crisp images while SRS(R)
TruSurround XT(TM) technology and built-in harman/kardon(R) stereo
speakers enable a rich audio experience. With its 5-in-1 bridge
media adapter, Qosmio users can access and share photo and video
content quickly.
Also a powerful computing tool, the Qosmio
F25-AV205 features Intel(R) Centrino(TM) Mobile Technology with
an Intel Pentium M processor(6) 750 and Intel PRO/Wireless(7) (802.11b/g),
providing outstanding mobile performance and easy connectivity to
the Internet at home or on the road at wireless hotspots.
Toshiba accessories for the Qosmio F25-AV205
include the Multimedia Center Audio/USB Hub that allows consumers
to easily connect their notebook computers to their home entertainment
systems, Toshiba keyboard protector, which helps to protect against
crumbs and spills, and Toshiba high-capacity 12-cell Lithium Ion
battery pack.
The Qosmio F25-AV205 comes with a one-year
limited warranty with Toshiba's premier global service. Extended
limited warranties are also available. Customers can choose from
several service options, including carry-in support at Authorized
Service Providers throughout the country for same-day or next-day
service, or utilize any of more than 3,000 UPS Stores for packaging
and delivery of the product to a centralized Depot for 24-hour service
turnaround.
The Qosmio F25-AV205 will be available from
ToshibaDirect and major consumer electronics and computer stores.
