Invision appointed as UK distributor of Xperinet's MIRV series of digital media servers (1/6/2005)

Stand E50, Hall 3, CEDIA UK Expo 2005

Xperinet Media Servers will have European debut at CEDIA EXPO 2005 at ICC in Birmingham

Invision has been appointed as the UK distributor of Xperinet's MIRV (Multiple Independent Relay) series of digital media servers.

There are four different Xperinet MIRV models - the Polaris, Trident, Poseidon and Titan. Each differ in their hard drive storage capacities and the number of simultaneous, independent viewing and listening locations they support.

All models stream video and audio content over an Ethernet network to a complementary A/V output decoder for playback - the Taurus Client. You need a Taurus Client for each viewing /listening location. Once installed, there need be no more arguments about what to watch or listen to, as different audio and video programmes can be selected for playback at the same time, at each location the MIRV Server supports.

The MIRV Server and Taurus Client can be configured via an infra-red control using an onscreen display or an RS-232/IP automation control interface. The MIRV server can be configured for A/V output, DVD loading settings and passwords can be set up for parental control, library editing and IP system. The onscreen Taurus Client interface allows you to search for movies by title, actor, genre, writer, director, censorship rating and year of release. Cover art and movie descriptions are also available on screen.

Xperinet are currently developing interface modules for AMX(tm), Crestron(tm) and other leading third party control systems - further details to be announced at CEDIA Expo 2005 at the ICC, Birmingham, 28-30th June 2005.

Xperinet's MIRV Servers - the key features:

Xperinet Polaris has an on-board A/V output for playback. With up to 1.75 Terabytes of storage, it will hold up to 350 DVDs or 3,700 CDs or a combination of both. Up to seven simultaneous streams can be generated for video playback via Taurus Clients. Built with custom installation in mind, Polaris is housed in a thermally managed rack-mounted chassis. £6,950 inc. Vat.

Xperinet Trident boasts up to 4 Terabytes of storage, which can accommodate up to 800 DVDs or 8,500 CDs or a combination of both. Audio output includes coax S/PDIF, which can be decoded for stereo or 5.1, with a 107 s/n ratio. Trident's dual processor system and 64 bit architecture provide amazing performance. A 66 MHz Gigabit Ethernet adaptor supports up to seven simultaneous streams using Taurus Clients.

Xperinet Poseidon has the same performance architecture and storage capacity as the Trident but will support simultaneous streaming to up to 20 independent zones using Taurus Clients. Hot-swappable drive bays make for convenience when servicing the chassis.

Xperinet Titan has monster storage capacity of up to 8 Terabytes. This means it can store up to 1, 600 DVDs or 17,000 CDs on a double-redundant RAID 5 array, which incorporates hot-swappable Serial ATA drives. Like Titan it is capable of supporting 20 independent zones simultaneously on a dual Gigabit Ethernet NIC.

Xperinet Taurus Client is the powerful A/V distribution system for all the Xperinet MIRV Server Models. Video output is scaled to top quality High Definition resolutions and the audio can be either decoded internally to provide stereo, 5.1 or 7.1 pre-amp outputs, or passed to an external Surround Sound processor via a S/PDIF. Taurus Client even has its own RS-232 and IP interface to enable independent control via a touch-panel system. Taurus Client can be placed next to the video screen or racked and hidden away with the MIRV server.
