Logitech Launches 885 Internet- Powered Universal
Remote Control at CEDIA Expo 2005 (31/5/2005)
Stand E50, Hall 3, CEDIA UK Expo 2005
Advanced Universal Remote Control 885 delivers
complete one-touch control of any home cinema
Logitech will unveil their latest handheld
device, the Harmony(TM) 885 Advanced Universal Remote at CEDIA Expo
2005, ICC, Birmingham, 28th Ð 30th June, 2005.
Designed specifically with the custom installer
in mind, the new Logitech Harmony 885 advanced remote control offers
enhanced navigation that simplifies the use of home entertainment
systems. Powered by Logitech's patented Smart State Technology,
Harmony remote controls are designed to work the way people think,
requiring just one click of a button to initiate a home entertainment
activity.
Available from UK distributor, Invision,
from June 2005, the new remote leverages Logitech's renowned design
expertise by incorporating a vibrant, colour LCD and polished chrome
directional pad and buttons that contrast the remote's glossy black
and brushed grey finish. The remote is rechargeable, eliminating
the need to change batteries and includes support for Teletext /Sky/Sky+
by providing dedicated buttons that correspond with the red, green,
yellow and blue functions.
The remote is configured by downloading all
instructions for each user's unique mix of components, via the supplied
USB cable. A Harmony remote can send all of the appropriate infrared
(IR) commands with one touch. Without the Harmony remote, the activity
might require pressing 10 or more buttons on several remote controls.
After the remote is configured, users simply
select an activity, such as "Watch Television" or "Play a DVD,"
from the remote's colour LCD screen. This configuration is always
safely stored on the user's web page so that changes can easily
be made when new equipment is installed. This simplified and groundbreaking
approach eliminates the need to perform complicated programming
required of other universal remotes.
Dealer support tools are available to custom
installers.
