Live and Learn at CEDIA UK EXPO 2005 (15/4/2005)
In its newly published Expo Seminar Guide,
CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association)
has unveiled details of its centrepiece education and training programme,
taking place at this year's CEDIA Expo (27th - 30th June 2005, International
Convention Centre, Birmingham).
The Guide features full course descriptions,
speaker details and timings for the 70 plus programme of seminars,
workshops and forums taking place at CEDIA Expo. It will allow visitors
to plan their visit to Expo well in advance, and provides all the
information they need to reserve course places at the earliest possible
opportunity.
CEDIA Expo offers detailed courses on the
"nuts and bolts" of residential installation with courses ranging
from "Technical & Project Documentation" and "How To Work With Interior
Designers", to a selection of courses in French or Italian to reflect
the growing European attendance at the show. Also on offer are a
number of new courses including "Video & RF"; "IP & Programming";
"System Commissioning" and "Troubleshooting". CEDIA has also arranged
an extensive, two day foundation course which will act either as
a forerunner to the Designer and Installer training and exams or
as a quick start to newcomers into the industry. Day 2 puts the
theory into practice with a hands-on, full day workshop enabling
delegates to grow in knowledge, confidence and skill.
Each course is assigned a level as a guide
to whom it might be suited. Other changes include improved handouts
and reading materials for all courses, and the introduction of CEUs
(Continuing Education Units) as part of the CEDIA Professional Certification
Program. CEDIA is once again structuring programmes around five
career paths: Installers, Designers, Customer Relations Managers,
Project Managers and Business Owners. Through these paths, employers
in the industry can offer their employees a proper career structure.
To make the educational programme as effective as possible each
educational track has a Dean overseeing the courses and preparing
the curriculum.
"The 2005 seminar programme provides a diverse
range of learning opportunities relevant to custom installers" explains
CEDIA UK's Education Chair, Steve Martin. "Without doubt all CEDIA
companies continue to face challenges, whether it's learning to
speak IP, working with interior designers, dealing with contractual
issues on larger projects or managing cash flow in a growing marketplace.
That's why the CEDIA Expo seminar programme is so important, and
is designed to help businesses in the sector grow".
The early bird seminar booking discount is
bigger than ever this year and Expo only registration is free of
charge until 15th May 2005.
