Canon launches new ultra-compact entry-level projector - the LV-S4 (7/4/2005)

Canon, leader in photographic and imaging technology, is pleased to announce the launch of its new entry-level multimedia projector: the LV-S4. Weighing just 2.3 kg and with a footprint smaller than an A4 notepad, the micro-portable LV-S4 is smaller and lighter than most laptop computers.

Benefiting from Canon's expertise and heritage in optical technology, the petite projector makes no compromise on quality - it features a genuine Canon 1.2x zoom lens with two aspherical elements to minimise distortion, and native SVGA resolution (800 x 600 pixels) for high clarity presentations. Despite the small size of the LV-S4, images are projected at a bright 1500 lumens. With a high level of functionality - including an RGB output port - and professional performance, the LV-S4 offers users excellent value for money.

High quality projections

The projector's original Canon 1.2x zoom lens is specially designed to deliver superior image quality in a compact lens - two dual-sided aspherical elements ensure images have minimal colour bleeding and distortion. With 1500 ANSI lumens of brightness, presentations are clear and easy to view even in bright daylight. Crisp, sharp, images are achieved with native SVGA resolution (800 x 600 pixels), ensuring high quality results for projecting both presentations and movies. The LV-S4 uses progressive scanning technology to create its images, resulting in smooth movement, clear diagonals and sharp text, without the flickering commonly found with conventional interlaced scanning technology. If the input signal is interlaced, the LV-S4 can upgrade to progressive scanning.

Compact body, flexible placement

The compact LV-S4 weighs only 2.3 kg and has a footprint smaller than an A4 notepad, making it easy to carry around - ideal for mobile presentations. It also makes an unobtrusive addition to the living room when used for home cinemas. The 1.2x zoom lens offers flexible placement of the projector, while the wide angle of the lens delivers a large image projection even when the LV-S4 is placed near the projection surface - just 3.2m away the LV-S4 projects a 100" image. If the projector's placement is not perpendicular to the screen, vertical Keystone Correction corrects the resulting image distortion, ensuring edges remain parallel.

Easy to use

An RGB output port makes giving presentations easy by providing connection to an external monitor for viewing presentations on-screen - so presenters can face the audience and view projected images simultaneously.

The slim-line remote control gives simple push button control, while the Automatic Multi-Scan System (AMSS) and Auto PC Adjust ensure the picture and resolution are automatically configured according to the type of input, avoiding the need for complex adjustments by the user.

Twelve languages are supported with the intuitive menu system.

Connectible and quiet

The LV-S4 can be connected easily to a wide range of Audio-Visual equipment. A high quality component video connection provides improved picture quality and supports a wide range of signals, and an optional SCART adaptor cable is available. Quiet mode 32 dBA reduces fan noise and power consumption to eliminate distracting noise.

Pricing, availability and reader enquiries

The LV-S4 will be available from May 2005 for £799 RRP inc. VAT / €1,149 RRP inc. VAT.
