NEOTION and SPiDCOM Technologies team up to develop a home multimedia network solution based on Powerline Communication (1/4/2005)

NEOTION, a high-tech company focused on digital television and SPiDCOM Technologies, a leading designer of Powerline Communication solutions, announced their partnership to build the first complete solution for the secure transmission of audio and video over the power lines throughout the home.

Combining semiconductor solutions from NEOTION for secure MPEG-4 AVC digital television and SPiDCOM 200Mbps Powerline Communication, the entire family will be able to enjoy TV-over- ADSL, Digital Terrestrial and Satellite channels, photos, MP3 music, and films on their Home Cinema system anywhere in the home with no new wires or cables. Remote interactive activities such as DVR programming, channel surfing, and e-mail will be supported.

"NEOTION and SPiDCOM have clear technological synergies. Working together we can bring a unique product to the market in a short period of time", said Radomir Jovanovic, President and CEO of SPIDCOM.

A demonstration system will be created combining the NEOTION Processor 4 (NP4) with its revolutionary MPEG-4 AVC functionalities and SPiDCOM's SPK200 kit configured as a PLC/Ethernet bridge. Targeted to be available by the end of first semester 2005, joint engineering work has already begun.

"Both NEOTION and SPiDCOM are innovation-driven companies which aim at providing the mass market with the best quality products, easy to use and at the right price, said Jean-Yves Le Roux, President of NEOTION. These common corporate values announce a promising cooperation."
