The Digital Home Becomes Reality with Intellon (20/3/2005)
-- Intellon presents the latest applications
using HomePlug(R) powerline communications. The company will demonstrate
high-speed data transmission of up to 200 Mbps based on the nearly
ratified HomePlug AV standard. Additionally, partner products powered
by Intellon's ICs will be shown. These will include BridgeCo, devolo,
Netgear, NEC/Packard Bell, among others.
Intellon Corporation, the world leader in
powerline communications, presents the latest products and solutions
in HomePlug powerline communications technology in the World of
Powerline exhibit at CeBIT 2005, hall 14 / H13. The US-based company
created and patented the baseline technology for HomePlug 1.0 and
is a major contributor to the baseline technology for the new 200-Mbps
HomePlug(R) AV powerline standard. With over two million HomePlug
ICs sold, Intellon holds the dominant market share of the rapidly
growing HomePlug market. Intellon's award winning technology - named
CeBIT Highlight 2003 in the category Communication - is used to
create instant networks, enabling PCs, broadband modems, set-top
boxes, gaming consoles and audio/video devices to communicate instantly
over existing power lines in the home.
Intellon-Highlights CeBIT 2005:
-- Showcasing: HomePlug AV with 200 Mbps
In a live demonstration, Intellon will present
the performance that consumers will come to expect when HomePlug
AV technology. The demonstration will show a 200 Mbps solution based
on the HomePlug AV standard, which is approaching ratification later
this spring. It will deliver substantially more bandwidth and provide
a strong QoS mechanism, which will allow undisturbed transmission
of high-definition (HD) video content, a difficult task for any
communications protocol. Intellon's HomePlug AV chipset will be
available by Q305 in sample quantities.
Additionally, within the HomePlug Alliance
booth, the alliance is demonstrating the use of Intellon's HomePlug
AV technology with Sharp's additional higher layer AV transmission
technologies, to distribute HD content from a Personal Video Recorder
(PVR) to Sharp's popular Aquos(R) LCD television over the powerlines
within a home. Sharp foresees a growing demand for powerline technology
in connecting LCD television or other flat panel displays to PVR
set-top boxes and similar thick client devices.
-- Shipping Now: HomePlug 1.0 with Turbo
with 85 Mbps
Another member of the proven HomePlug 1.0
family of products is Intellon's HomePlug 1.0 with Turbo device
(INT5500CS), which provides throughput of 85 Mbps. Products utilizing
the INT5500CS, from partners such as devolo, Netgear, Gigafast,
Asoka and others will be announced at CeBIT. Intellon will demonstrate
audio and standard definition (SD) video transmission, as well as
