NEC demonstrates its wide spectrum of technologies
at CeBIT 2005 (17/3/2005)
NEC affirms at CeBIT 2005 the company's role
as innovation leader in the field of information technology. It
is the showcase for the multitude of brand new technologies that
are incorporated in NEC's comprehensive portfolio of products.
One of the special highlights at the NEC
booth is the first PC drive for high-definition DVD - in short HD
DVD. The new DVD standard enables a much higher memory capacity
of up to 60 Gbytes and excellent playback quality. The downward
compatibility of the drive means that it can play and burn conventional
CDs and DVDs, as well as the new HD DVD format.
The ND-3540 from NEC is a 16x-DVD writer
with an 8x write speed for double-layer media. What really makes
the ND-3540 stand out from the crowd is the fact that it is format
independent: in other words, it can write both DVD+R9 and DVD-R
DL media that are used for video DVDs. With a second layer on the
DVD, recording time is extended from two to four hours.
The ND-6650 from NEC is a slimline 8x-DVD
writer with a 4x write speed for double-layer media. In addition
to DVDs, the device can also write CD-Rs (24x) and CD-RWs (20x).
Its low energy consumption, compact size, and low weight (only 182
g) make the ND-6650 the ideal DVD writer for notebooks.
NEC sets new benchmarks as first mover. The
WT615 incorporates a novel 'electronic pen'; a convenient function
that enables the user to make handwritten notes in the presentation.
As a result, the WT615 is an interactive input medium rather than
purely an output medium. The WT610's brightness and contrast values
are superior to those of its predecessor, the WT600. These new WT
projectors have the shortest projection throw distances in the world.
This means they can be positioned at a distance of only 6.4 cm from
the projection surface. Both devices are equipped for HDTV and their
high contrast ratio delivers needle-sharp images - whether the projector
is being used by a presentation professional or at POI/POS.
The LT20 mini projector is the ideal assistant
for presentations outside the office: the DLP projector weighs in
at only one kilo and is compact enough to fit into any briefcase.
And it doesn't end there: NEC hasn't taken any shortcuts in terms
of technical specifications. The XGA projector boasts both excellent
light performance and a high contrast ratio. The LT20 mobile mini
projector is another special, lightweight addition to the LT series.
Measuring only 20 x 15 cm, the LT20 is not much bigger than a pocket
book. It has a resolution of 1,024 x 768 pixels (XGA) and a brightness
level of 1,500 ANSI lumens. The substantial contrast ratio of 2,100:1
guarantees contrasting, brilliant images.
The new LT180 is powerful and offers razor-sharp
contrast. This lightweight DLP projector has a physical resolution
of 1,024 x 768 (XGA) and a high contrast ratio of 1,000:1. With
a brightness of 2,000 ANSI lumens, the LT180 is also ideal for use
in daylight applications.
NEC will be launching two new home cinema
projectors with genuine 16:9 widescreen DLP chips. The benefit of
genuine 16:9 projectors is that their output signal is in the correct
format so that the black bars do not appear at all. The HT510 has
a resolution of 1,024 x 576 pixels and the less expensive model,
the HT410, delivers widescreen images in a resolution of 854 x 480
pixels. A perfect home cinema experience is guaranteed because the
fan noise of these projectors is as low as 26 decibels, which is
quieter than a whisper.
The key features of the new VT37 LCD projector
from NEC are that it can be used in a wide variety of applications
and has a particularly long life. The latest addition to the VT
series has an extended lamp life when used in ECO mode and the fact
that it is great value for money makes it the ideal starter model
for presentations. NEC, which has been market leader in the projectors
sector for four years now, has just added two high-performance products
to its successful VT projector range: the VT575 and VT676. What
really makes the new VT projectors stand out from the crowd is their
enhanced brightness level of up to 2,500 ANSI lumens and contrast
ratio of 400:1. The fact that the projectors are HDTV compatible
means that these multimedia projectors are a safe investment for
the future: not only for presentations, but also for video applications
in educational institutions.
Viewers in most big cities in Germany can
already receive digital television via antenna. Those who would
like to combine this with a high-quality plasma television display
need look no further than NEC, which now provides an optional DVB-T
receiver with its plasma displays. NEC plasma displays are also
'HD ready' for high-resolution HDTV programmes and DVD films. In
short, buying an NEC plasma display is a secure, long-term investment.
