Klipsch to Launch Silver Versions of Popular Reference
Series Powered Subwoofers (3/3/2005)
In response to dealer and consumer demand,
Klipsch will launch silver versions of its popular RW-10 and RW-8
Reference Series powered subwoofers in April. Designed to match
its silver line of RVX flat-panel audio solutions, Klipsch will
have these subwoofers on display inside booth number 100 at EHX
Spring 2005.
The RW-10 employs a 10-inch woofer, while
the RW-8 uses an 8-inch woofer to deliver deep, driving bass. Both
of these models feature silver-colored Cerametallic(tm) cones made
with of anodized aluminum, which makes them light and stiff. Giant
magnets and high-temperature, long-excursion voice coils ensure
efficient, reliable operation and, in combination with the mechanical
characteristics of the cones, exceptionally low distortion.
Both of these compact subwoofers incorporate
Klipsch's exclusive Corner Port(tm) technology. This advanced engineering
lengthens the subwoofer's port tube and smoothes the airflow within
it, dramatically enhancing bass extension and output without increasing
the cabinet size.
These front-firing, front-ported models get
their intensity from a newly designed amplifier that brings 400-watts
of dynamic power to the RW-10 and 200-watts of dynamic power to
the RW-8. Both have a continuously variable phase control, which
facilitates ideal acoustical integration of the subwoofers with
the other speakers in a system. This variable phase control is not
found on many subwoofers; especially models in this price range,
but it will increase bass response when properly adjusted. The easy-to-reach,
side-mounted volume control on both models is another unique feature
that makes both set-up and on-the-fly adjustments easier than conventional
back-panel mounted volume controls.
Priced the same as their equivalent black
RW subwoofers, the silver RW-10 will carry a U.S. MSRP of $500 and
the silver RW-8 will carry a U.S. MSRP of $299.
