United Media UK Brings the Beauty of the Big Screen
into the Home (25/2/2005)
Showroom opens at 18 Clarges Street, Mayfair,
London
Home cinemas are currently one of the most
desirable additions to houses and apartments. However, making sure
modern technology doesn't dominate the living space requires creative
vision and the right components. In answer to this challenge, United
Media UK has opened a showroom at 18 Clarges Street in London's
Mayfair, dedicated to bringing the beauty of the big screen into
the home and office.
United Media UK is a collaboration between
interior designer, Michael Collins - who has designed cinemas at
Pinewood Studios - and respected audiovisual specialist, Hossam
Abdallah. Together, they design, provide and install custom installations.
At the showroom, customers can see how modern technology works within
both contemporary and classical settings. The company also has the
expertise to integrate a home cinema into an existing satellite
reception, a wireless computer network, security and lighting.
Michael Collins comments: 'If you combine
technology and creative interior design, home cinemas can be stunning
rooms in their own right. Some clients want us to adapt an existing
room with no hint that it also functions as a cinema. We can hide
screens behind paintings, in ceilings, within bespoke cabinets,
or even inside a faux bookcase. Other clients have commissioned
us to work alongside their architects or designers refurbishing
large houses or apartments to provide elegant multi-room systems
and even multi-system rooms. It is extraordinary how the most ambitious
dreams can be achieved thanks to current technology!'
To guarantee a great night in at the movies,
United Media UK believes it is vital to choose the most appropriate
technology for a room (a plasma screen, projection system or both),
and create the right ambience. Seating, fabric and lighting are
all important. Home cinemas must be acoustically and visually inspiring
and easy to operate.
Hossam Abdallah says: 'We guide clients through
the available choices and demonstrate that it is possible, at the
touch of a button, for curtains to close, lights to dim, the screen
to silently appear and the magic of the movies begin.'
