Naim launches DC1 and RGB1 cables to support DVD5
player (25/2/2005)
Naim Audio will officially launch the new
DC1 digital interconnect and the RGB1 video cables at the Sound
and Vision 2005 show in Bristol, England during 24th - 27th February
2005.
Development of these cables was instigated
during the development of the recently launched Naim DVD5 DVD player
to provide cables of high enough quality to enable the outstanding
performance of the DVD5 to be confirmed.
DC1 Digital Interconnect
The DC1 cable does not contain any magic
dust or indeed any pseudo technical widgets or gismos. It is just
an excellent choice of 75 ohm impedance cable terminated correctly
and carefully with phono plugs chosen for their performance.
The single 1į0mm diameter high-conductivity
copper conductor is surrounded by a semi air-spaced polyethylene
dielectric. The DC1 is double shielded by a copper tape giving 100%
shielding and a copper braid: the combination delivering excellent
shielding together with flexibility. The entire cable is covered
by a Black PVC outer sheath for damping and a Nylon braid for protection.
It is the opinion of Naimās R&D that this
is the finest sounding cable that they have used to connect a DVD5
to an AV2 AV processor.
The DC1 cable is available now from all Naim
retailers at a cost of £150.
RGB1 Video Cable
Although the focus, in the press, is generally
on connecting DVD players to display devices via DVI or HDMI, Naim
is very conscious of the fact that only a very small proportion
of the displays in the market and only a small proportion of those
on sale have digital inputs with HDCP. It is also fair to say that
some display devices are capable of superior picture quality via
their RGB or YUV analogue inputs rather than via their digital video
inputs.
Naim has used the highest quality cable and
connectors that provide superior impedance matching, low capacitance
and high conductivity. Each interconnect is meticulously hand-built
in-house using newly developed techniques. The RGB1 cable is high-density
double-shielded, flame retardant and non-corrosive. It is fitted
with professional BNC connectors with precise Swiss machined brass
parts for outstanding robustness, a snug-fitting BNC centre pin
insert providing tactile feedback and colour coded boots.
The RGB1 cannot provide a picture better
than the source can provide but it can ensure that the signal going
from source to display is not compromised in any way.
The RGB1 is available now from Naim retailers
at a cost of £525 for 10m, £460 for 5m and £195 for 2m.
