TRIBUTARIES Introduces IEEE 1394 FireWire Cables
(8/2/2005)
TRIBUTARIES(R), an innovator in the development
of high-quality interconnect cables, video accessories and speaker
wire, now offers retailers and home entertainment system installers
the new IEEE 1394 FireWire Cables.
The new TRIBUTARIES(R) IEEE 1394 Quad Shielded
Cables' technology provides a means of transporting all the IEEE
1394 digital data signal in an electronic system, i.e., audio video,
control, computer, telephony, etc, over a single cable system. The
TRIBUTARIES(R) IEEE 1394 are engineered as low capacitance, quad
shielded cables capable of handling data rates up to 400 Mbps (megabits
per second), are built with three pairs of internal conductors.
Two of the pairs are designed to handle data and each has its own
copper braided shield and aluminum Mylar(R) wrap. The third pair
is unshielded and carries DC voltage for special power requirements.
To insure freedom from RFI (radio frequency interference), all three
pairs are enclosed in an additional copper braid and Mylar(R) wrap.
A sturdy but flexible outer jacket is manufactured from PVC and
covered in a black and red hi-tech vinyl mesh jacket. The connectors
and their internal contacts are gold-plated to ensure reliable operation.
The TRIBUTARIES(R) IEEE 1394 terminations
are available in three configurations: 4 pin to 4 pin; 4 pin to
6 pin; and 6 pin to 6 pin. The 4 pin combination only uses the data
pairs, while the 6 pin combo uses both data and power pairs. The
IEEE 1394 cables are available in the following lengths: 1, 2, 3,
4, and 4.5 meters, suggested retail price of the TRIBUTARIES(R)
IEEE 1394 cables range from a low for the 4 pin to 4 pin of $28
for one meter, to a high of $44 for 4.5 meters of the 6 pin to 6
pin.
