CEDIA Extends CPD Programme for Architects (3/2/2005)
CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design & Installation
Association), the professional body representing the fast-expanding
residential home automation and integration sector, is embarking
on further training for architects and building industry professionals
with a set of seven dates in 2005 for its Continuing Professional
Development (CPD) course.
Expert presenters from within CEDIA will
provide the association's "Designing Future Ready Homes" course
at the following locations across the country; London (1st March),
Leeds (16th March), Glasgow (19th April), Cambridge (18th May),
Southampton (4th October), Leicester (12th October) and Liverpool
(19th October). "Designing Future Ready Homes" is a customised CPD
course from CEDIA. It offers architects, specifiers, developers
and other trade professionals the chance to gain a comprehensive
and clear understanding of the key concepts behind a/v, lighting,
security, HVAC, blind control and other technologies in the home,
their integration and the structured wiring solutions required for
all these applications.
CEDIA is a member of RIBA (Royal Institute
of British Architects) as a Manufacturer Network Provider which
has boosted the visibility and credibility of custom installation
to architects. CEDIA's "Designing Future Ready Homes" course is
presently undergoing RIBA approval which will further increase its
profile and value as an intrinsic element in the professional development
of architects and building professionals.
David Hyman, CEDIA UK Chairman comments "There
are marvelous things happening in the application of technology
in the home. We are keen to share our knowledge of these new technologies
and possibilities with architects. We are also keen to show how
building professionals can work productively with custom installers
in the planning, design, integration and implementation of a/v,
lighting, security, HVAC control and other technologies on residential
projects. That's why we're increasing our involvement in the CPD
programme, as the market continues to expand at a dramatic rate".
Already, thousands of architects and designers
have learnt about CEDIA through this course and CEDIA members increasingly
report that the CEDIA name is being cited in specifications and
tender documents. It is hoped that through the 2005 CPD courses,
many more will learn about the work of CEDIA and how they can be
involved in this fast growing industry. High quality education and
training are critical to the successful expansion of custom installation
and these courses play a large role in achieving this.
CEDIA is an international trade organisation
spanning three continents with a global membership of over 3,500
companies. CEDIA is a not-for-profit organisation. Members specialise
in the planning, design, supply and installation of automated electronic
systems for the modern, intelligent home and can install anything
from home cinemas to complete home networks and sub-systems to intelligently
control lighting, security, HVAC (heating, ventilation & air conditioning),
and even garden facilities, from lighting to watering.
