Polk Audio and D2Audio Announce Research and Technology Collaboration (2/2/2005)

D2Audio, the world's only manufacturer of intelligent, customizable digital amplifiers, today announced a research and technology collaboration with Polk Audio, a leading manufacturer of high performance audio products. The project centers on the development of Polk's LC265ip in-wall loudspeaker, the world's first Internet Protocol (IP) speaker that will feature digital amplifiers, electronic crossovers, DSP circuitry and TCP/IP control modules built into the speakers to deliver a wealth of demonstrable convenience and performance benefits when used with IP addressable audio distribution systems such as the NetStreams DigiLinx. D2Audio is working closely with Polk engineers to develop the cutting-edge digital amplifier and DSP technologies for the LC265ip.

"D2Audio has the kind of technology and experience to help us realize our vision of the ultimate in-wall loudspeaker," said Al Baron, Polk Audio's Product Line Manager. "D2Audio's digital amplification expertise will be instrumental in achieving high output with audiophile sound quality far beyond that offered in conventional distributed audio speakers. With the kind of DSP circuitry we are developing in collaboration with D2Audio, consumers and integrators will enjoy unprecedented power to optimize sound quality to overcome placement and environmental limitations."

"We are pleased to be working in concert with Polk Audio on one of the most innovative speaker products we've seen in quite awhile," said Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Skip Taylor. "Our high power digital amplifier and DSP expertise is perfectly suited to help Polk Audio achieve their product goals."
