Feel the Force with the MAX's New Home Theatre Speakers
(2/2/2005)
Home theatre moves into a new dimension with
these new under-chair speakers from The MAX. Originally developed
to produce realistic flight simulations for military training purposes,
the technology has recently been re-worked to provide the very best
audio experience for home cinemas.
This latest system features a transducer
which has been designed to be installed beneath a seat, sofa or
floor. The transducer creates tiny vibrations which pass through
the listener's body to generate the full range of sounds - a car
engine starting, a building collapsing, a bomb exploding. Now, rather
than simply watching the action, you'll feel it too Ð rather like
theme park simulations. Whatever happens, these tiny transducers
mean that you're in the thick of the action.
Unlike simple "bass shakers" the MAX's transducers
produce sounds over the range 1Hz to 800Hz. This does not interfere
with the sounds from conventional speakers and subwoofers, but adds
that extra bump & grind which could only be produced by speakers
too enormous to contemplate in most settings.
Simple to install, powerful, unobtrusive
and yet with the ultimate "wow" factor, the Tactile Sound Transducer
(TST) is set to become a home cinema essential. Already widely used
in theme parks and nightclubs, they cost little but add bucket loads
of atmosphere.
The TST is available in 2 models - silver
& platinum - depending on the output required. The silver is ideal
for use under theatre seats whereas the Platinum will deliver that
bit more oomph for use under wood flooring and stages.
