Lutron's New Sivoia QED for Total Lighting Control
(31/1/2005)
Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. the world leader
in lighting controls has introduced its new Sivoia QED (Quiet Electronic
Drive) product line to Europe. Sivoia QED is a sophisticated and
versatile electronic drive for controlling roller blinds and allows
for complete control of natural light for both residential and commercial
applications. With Sivoia QED, Lutron now controls the total lighting
environment, both natural and artificial.
Stylish, quiet and flexible
Sivoia QED is the ultimate in motorised roller
blind technology, providing elegance, convenience and versatility.
The innovative design features a near-silent electronic drive (44
dBA at three feet), minimal light gaps around the roller blind,
simple installation, and a flexible design that can work in virtually
any installation.
As well as making any space more flexible,
Sivoia QED helps save energy in both hot and cold weather, and is
an elegant addition to any living room, bedroom, bath or home theatre.
During sunny hours, blinds can be lowered to reduce heat and protect
carpeting, wood floors, artwork, and furnishings from harsh ultra-violet
rays. During evening hours, and prolonged periods of absence, covering
windows ensures privacy and security.
Easy installation and programming
Sivoia QED was designed with flexibility
in mind and as such, does not require group controllers, relays
or line-voltage wiring between Electronic Drive Units. Programming
is easy and can be reconfigured at the point of control without
rewiring or access to the Electronic Drive Unit. The intelligent
electronic control allows Sivoia QED roller blinds to move smoothly,
in perfect unison and with exact alignment across multiple windows
for a clean, impressive visual effect.
The Sivoia Quiet Electronic Drive and internal
components are located inside the roller tube allowing for three
installation possibilities: inside jamb mount, outside wall mount
and ceiling mount.
Sivoia QED offers a 3/4" (less than 2 cm)
light gap between the roller blind and its window frame, allowing
minimal light to seep through the opening. In addition, the product
utilises low-voltage wiring Ð perfect for easy retrofits Ð while
proprietary brackets allow roller tubes to be readily adjusted and
easily aligned without removing fabric from the tube.
Integration with Lutron Lighting Controls
Sivoia QED can be controlled individually
or seamlessly integrated with Lutron's GRAFIK Eye and HomeWorks
lighting control systems. The new solution is perfect for home theatres
where a GRAFIK Eye is used to control lighting, since any preset
lighting scene can now include the operation of Sivoia QED blinds.
''Today's homes use windows and natural light
as two very important design elements,'' said Stacey Kim, Lutron's
international marketing manager. ''Therefore, careful attention
needs to be given when planning control of a home's environment.
Our new seamless integration of lighting and motorised window treatments
is the perfect solution.''
