Max launches The Validator - an unbeatable test and certification tool (13/12/2004)

The Max has announced the launch of The Validator, the most exciting and indispensable new cable and wiring tool. Available for the first time in the UK, The Validator professional network/cabling certifier not only outperforms all other models currently available with its CAT 5, CAT 5E and CAT 6 compatibility, but is also significantly cheaper so providing purchasers with better value for money.

The hand-held Validator simplifies cable and wire testing and certification by integrating a range of essential actions on one, multi-functioning keypad unit. The system incorporates state of the art software which enables users to create custom floor plans showing specific network, telephone and cable ports typically found in complex voice/data installations. This layout data can then be printed or e-mailed for use in reports, stored and used as a start-point for test scheduling and/or archived for future use.

Easy to use as a certification tool, The Validator provides clearly displayed test results and can be employed to test/certify network cables to 1 gigabit per IEEE 802.3 speed criteria. Typical measurements include NEXT, signal/noise ratios, attenuation, return loss and bit error rates to determine cable-carrying capability. In certification mode, The Validator can be used to test telephone, coax, security/alarm cables and for continuity, proper termination and polarity as well as providing a wiremap for individual runs to locate and identify cable routes.

Faultfinding is simple using The Validator. The unit identifies skew and signal/noise ratio results on faulty cables and tests interconnect specifications per TIA 568/570, including opens, shorts, miswires and split pairs.

Other actions offered by The Validator include easy documentation and cross checking allowing cable runs to be listed, checked and verified. End of job reports can be printed directly from the unit for simplified billing. Once completed, all data can be archived either via a link to a laptop/PC or in the unit's integral 2GB flash card memory.
