Consumer Electronics Association Recognizes Cirrus
Logic for Excellence in Design and Engineering (10/12/2004)
Cirrus Logic Receives Two Innovation Award Honoree
Recognitions for Its CobraNet Digital Networked Audio and Intelligent
Room Calibration Software for Home Theater
Cirrus Logic Inc. (Nasdaq:CRUS), a premier supplier
of high-performance analog, mixed-signal and digital processing
solutions for consumer entertainment electronics, automotive entertainment
and industrial product applications, today announced that the Consumer
Electronics Association (CEA) has recognized its Intelligent Room
Calibration(TM) (IRC) Audio Software and CobraNet(TM) Silicon Series
as honorees in the Innovations 2005 Design and Engineering Awards
program.
Cirrus Logic's IRC and CobraNet IC products
were submitted in the Software/Embedded Technologies product category
and judged by a panel of prominent industry designers, engineers
and journalists.
"OEMS need IC companies to help them nail
the right mix of features, package, and size -- all at the right
price point that can be brought to market quickly. In addition,
chip companies also need to focus on ways to ensure the devices
are consumer friendly, especially as more features are added," said
David French, president and CEO, Cirrus Logic. "The two Cirrus Logic
technologies recognized by the CEA illustrate Cirrus Logic's ability
to provide both the silicon and software necessary to satisfy both
OEMs and consumers."
Cirrus Logic's Innovations 2005 Design and
Engineering award-winning products include:
-- Intelligent Room Calibration Audio Software:
With the introduction of advanced software into its dual-core audio
digital signal processor (DSP) families, Cirrus Logic's IRC audio
software enables consumers to quickly and easily attune their living
room acoustics with their home theater or stereo system to replicate
the rich acoustical environment of venues such as state-of-the art
movie theaters, concert halls and jazz clubs. The IRC software is
targeted toward mainstream audio/video receivers (AVRs) that typically
sell for less than $1,000, and resolves many cumbersome set up processes
associated with the limitations of the home-- all within about one
minute.
-- CobraNet Silicon Series: With the introduction
of three digital audio networking processors from its CobraNet Silicon
Series of products, Cirrus Logic is making it possible for commercial
and professional audio manufacturers to significantly lower the
cost of deploying networked audio systems. With a single-chip approach,
manufacturers now have much simpler and significantly cost-reduced
solutions. This product mix ensures the right IC solution for such
different market applications as ceiling speakers, mixers, power
amplifiers, signal processors, intercom systems, power amplifiers
and paging systems. CobraNet-enabled products can be used in a wide
variety of settings including recording studios, live performances,
broadcast studios and commercial "installed-sound" facilities such
as office buildings, hospitals, airports, music halls, sports arenas,
restaurants and houses of worship.
Cirrus Logic's CobraNet Silicon Series will
be on display at Innovations Plus located in CES Central Plaza Jan.
6-9, 2005, at the International CES in Las Vegas. Cirrus Logic will
also participate in Digital Experience! @ CES on Wednesday, Jan.
5, 2005, from 7:00-10:00 p.m. at the Bellagio.
