CEA To Preview Digital Imaging Retail Training At
2005 International CES (1/12/2004)
Latest 'CEKNOWHOW' Module Sponsored By CEA's Digital
Imaging Special Interest Group
The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) today
announced the latest enhancement to its online retail training program,
CEknowhow (www.ceknowhow.com), will focus on the digital imaging
product category and will be previewed at the 2005 International
CES, the world's largest annual technology tradeshow, January 6-9,
in Las Vegas, Nev. The digital imaging module is sponsored by CEA's
Digital Imaging Special Interest Group (SIG). The module will be
on display in the "Experience CEA" exhibit area located in the Las
Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) Grand Lobby.
"The goal of the CEknowhow.com program is
to grow the industry with a brand agnostic training program that
will increase both consumer and retail sales associate product knowledge,"
said CEA President and CEO Gary Shapiro. "CEA Market Research found
in a recent consumer survey that only 31 percent of respondents
who had consulted retail sales staff during a digital camera shopping
excursion found the staff very knowledgeable about digital cameras.
By extending CEA's CEknowhow.com retail training program to digital
imaging, we hope to provide retailers with a tool to improve those
numbers and maximize the customer experience."
CEA noted the digital imaging training module
would cover more than digital camera sales, extending into the editing,
storage and sharing of images. The module will include five chapters:
Digital Imaging for Your Lifestyle; Capturing Images; Processing
Images; Sharing Images; and Managing Images. Retail sales associates
will become certified once they complete all five chapters of the
CEknowhow.com digital imaging module.
CEA's CEknowhow.com retail training program
launched in 2003 with a wireless module and now also includes modules
for: audio, DTV, home networking and mobile. Designed to equip retailers
with up-to-date online training for sales associates, CEknowhow.com
is customizable, allowing retailers to license and tailor the program
to suit their particular needs. More than 22,000 sales persons have
completed training via CEknowhow.com.
