TriGem Computer Premiers the KLOSS High-Performance
Home Entertainment System (1/12/2004)
Bare-Bones PC Conquers Heat and Noise Issues and
Delivers TV, Audio, and PC Capabilities in an Affordable Package
TriGem Computer Inc., a world leader in the personal
computer market, has entered the U.S. market with its KLOSS family
of high-performance home entertainment systems that give users a
broad range of multimedia functions, such as DVD, TV, and high-definition
audio at an affordable price point. The family, which includes three
models, features leading-edge PC technology including the new Intel
i915G chipset, dual-channel DDR 333/400 memory slots (expandable
to 2GB), and an MGA900 Intel Media Graphics Accelerator.
"We believe that our KLOSS PCs offer users
the optimal combination of the most advanced Intel-based processor
technology and comprehensive multimedia functionality," said YK
Park, Manager of the Global Distribution Business of TriGem Computer.
"The unique architecture and outstanding design of the KLOSS eradicate
the noise and heat issues normally associated with these types of
high-end specifications."
The design of the KLOSS allows it to integrate
naturally into any home entertainment system. First, the heat and
noise management offered by the KLOSS makes the unit quiet and cool
enough to be used in the same way as other consumer electronics
appliances.
The KLOSS incorporates unique, multi-dimensional
design enhancements to achieve its acoustic and thermal advantages.
The CPU cooler that integrates three heat pipes transfers heat quickly
from the CPU to the system's large 92 mm fan in order to rapidly
cool the system. The size of the fan allows for uncompromised cooling
at slower rotation speeds -- for minimal noise. In addition, the
unit features two separately controlled thermal zones that create
discrete areas for heat generating components (such as the CPU)
and lower temperature devices (such as the CD-ROM). Finally, the
motherboard has been decluttered to allow for optimal air flow and
cooling.
The KLOSS has been designed to resemble consumer
audio devices, allowing it to be aesthetically compatible with a
range of consumer audio devices found in the average home. The compact
unit measures 18.7 inches by 11.5 inches by 13.4 inches and weighs
12.8 pounds.
Meanwhile, all three members of the family
offer state-of-the-art consumer electronics audio capabilities.
High-definition audio provides multi-streaming capabilities for
gaming and entertainment. The KLOSS leverages Intel's HD Audio,
which allows 192kHz, 32-bit, multi-channel audio.
The KL-i915W and KL-i915A incorporate a front-panel
LCD control center, as well as a remote control for quick and easy
access to the unit's functions. The KL-i915W adds 802.11 b & g wireless
capabilities with SoftGate(TM) AP technology to give consumers a
quick and easy way of sharing information or accessing the Internet
without additional wiring or access point/router requirements.
Each KLOSS PC includes CyberLink PowerCinema
3.0 all-in-one home entertainment system software. The application
provides an integrated navigation interface for managing and accessing
movies and video files, photos and music, either with or without
a remote control.
The KLOSS PC is highly expandable with both
PCI and PCI express expansion slots, as well as room for one ATA100
and two SATA hard drives. The units provide two front-panel and
three rear-panel USB ports, as well as front and rear IEEE 1394
FireWire ports. The front panel also provides headphone and microphone
jacks. A Flash memory card reader is optional.
Pricing and Availability
The bare-bones KL-i915W (which includes LCD
interface/remote control and wireless LAN) is priced at $400, while
the bare-bones KL-i915A (with LCD interface/remote control) costs
$350. The bare-bones KL-i915B costs $320. The KLOSS PC will be available
through distributors like AMAX Engineering Corporation.
