HomeLogic expands its EdgeBrick Technology with the
introduction of the IrrigationBrick (26/11/2004)
HomeLogic, LLC introduces the OneHome(tm) Irrigation
EdgeBrick for controlling and managing irrigation systems via a
network.
EdgeBrick technology delivers IP-based control
to compatible communicating sub-systems. The IrrigationBrick is
the latest solution to the line that includes the LightingBrick
and ClimateBrick. Each EdgeBrick is a stand-a-lone controller developed
out of the complete OneHome Management and Control Solution. The
IrrigationBrick provides an elegant and simple to use interface
to control irrigation systems. Features include simplified scheduling,
history functions and remote Internet access. With the IrrigationBrick,
homeowners and small/medium commercial organizations can control
irrigation (sprinkler, drip, etc.) systems with a local or remote
network connection.
"The new Irrigation EdgeBrick is a new addition
to the EdgeBrick family. It enables installers and builders to offer
the easy-to-learn and easy-to-use OneHome user interface for irrigation
systems," stated Jim Herman, HomeLogic co-founder. "Irrigation EdgeBrick
users now have an intuitive tool to view and manage their irrigation
systems and schedules. Changes may be easily made to accommodate
unexpected changes in weather conditions and they may also track
water usage, by zone, to better utilize valued water resources."
"Users have the ability to connect to the
EdgeBrick by way of their home computer network as well as via the
Internet, noted Buddy Duncan, also a HomeLogic co-founder. "And
they may also incorporate touch screen (in-wall or wireless) devices
as well as PocketPC technology in order to access and control the
sub-system."
The new Irrigation EdgeBrick comes with ports
enabling it to connect to an Ethernet home network as well as to
the serial-based or power line control (PLC) sub-systems. Software
for the Irrigation control and management features comes installed
on each EdgeBrick, ready for the installer to configure for the
specific irrigation installation. Its compact size facilitates installation
in a variety of locations within the homeowner's residence.
Initial versions of the EdgeBrick, announced
in September, include technology for controlling climate or lighting
sub-systems. During the next several months, HomeLogic plans to
make available systems for controlling security, and other in-home
sub-systems. These will provide many options for homeowners and
installers alike. "You can start enjoying these high-end features
with a minimal investment and grow in a modular fashion. If and
when the customer is ready for more extensive solutions that include
distributed audio or video, there's even an upgrade path we'll offer,"
added Joe Lautner, VP Marketing and Sales.
