Control4 Wins Prestigious CES Best of Innovations Award (23/11/2004)

Control4, a leading home automation company, today announced that the 2005 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) had bestowed its "Best of Innovation Award" to the company for its Composer Software in the "Best Integrated Home System" category. The CES Best of Innovations award is given to the top product in design and engineering in 27 categories. In addition, Control4's Wireless Dimmer, Media Controller and Mini-Touch Screen received CES honoree awards for innovative design and product advancements.

"With more than 800 entries and nearly 350 companies participating, we are pleased that an independent panel of experts leading this top consumer technology awards program would select Control4 as the winner in its category," said Will West, Control4's chief executive officer. "This award is a reflection of our commitment to making home automation a reality for all consumers through innovative, affordable and easy-to-use products."

The International CES Innovations Design and Engineering award program provides manufacturers and developers the opportunity to have products judged by an independent panel of journalists, designers and engineers. The Best of Innovations designation is awarded to products that earned the highest honors from the panel.

The company said its Composer Software, winner of the Best of Innovations designation, has been designed to provide a simple and intuitive interface to the previously complex and manual process of home automation system design and configuration. With Composer, a user can configure an entire home automation system by being guided through an interactive interview, or through Composer's simple drag-and-drop interface that includes custom programming of unlimited events and actions, such as changing lighting scenes when watching a movie. Composer enables easy configuration of all network and audio/video connections for Control4 products, as well as a vast array of third-party products. Composer also dynamically discovers and indexes movies, music and channels providing the homeowner with a simple, consolidated interface to browse and select all media available. Control4's Composer software allows dealers to efficiently and quickly create fully personalized home automation systems while avoiding the need for difficult custom programming.

Additional CES Honoree Awards

Control4 Wireless Dimmer: Intelligent lighting for any home regardless of age, and is approved for up to 1,000 watts to handle any home lighting situation.

Control4 Media Controller: Delivers multiple digital music streams across a home's wired or wireless network from an 80-gigabit hard drive.

Mini-Touch Screen: All the features of a full-sized touch panel, plus a remote audio server packed into a compact 4-inch touch screen.

Home Theater Receiver Controller: Full 7.1 surround sound with multiroom digital audio streaming and whole home automation and control.

In September, Control4 introduced its unique portfolio of more than 25 wired and wireless IP-based products that enable home automation. The products can be retrofitted into any home, are significantly less expensive than current solutions and allow consumers to incrementally upgrade their systems.
