New Dipole to add to the Award winning Compact Series (18/11/2004)

The new improved Castle Compact Dipole will be available in Castle retailers from November 2004 onwards at a cost of £499 per pair.

The Castle Compact Dipole has been designed and produced in response to requests from Castle customers, retailers and distributors worldwide.

As movie enthusiasts are well aware: correctly positioned Dipole loudspeakers can create a far better illusion of the cinema than can be achieved using the more traditional approach. Whether the speakers are used to replace the rear speakers in a 5.1 system or as the side speakers in a 7.1 system, the new Compact Dipole delivers the characteristic performance that has made the original system Compact system such a success world-wide.

The Castle Compact Dipole is designed with similar drive units to the Castle Satellite to ensure consistent timbre. The crossover is optimised for the two separate cabinets within the Dipole and to deliver a flat response into the room from a height of approximately 2-3 metres.

Castle Acousticsā sales and marketing director Fred Clayton commented "This is the first of several new product releases in our Compact Range, all designed to enhance the appeal of this product group to the multi-channel enthusiast, 2005 will see a further three new products."

Dipole Loudspeaker Explanation

Dipole speakers radiate sound in two, usually opposite, directions with the sound travelling in one direction being out of phase with the other. This means that when one cone moves outward, it compresses the air molecules, while the other cone moves inward, resulting in a rarefaction or expansion of air molecules. These opposing bass waves cancel at the sides of the speaker, producing a "null" in the listening area (to the sides), whereas the midrange and treble sounds fire forward and to the rear, resulting in a reflected and ambient wash of sound much like that heard in a big movie auditorium.
