ClearPix Black Backing And Masking Material Gets The THX Ultra Certification (27/10/2004)

Screen Research is really pleased to announce that, after ClearPix2(tm), THX Ltd has decided to grant its THX Ultra certification to ClearPix Black Backing and Masking Material.

ClearPix2 projection material is the first acoustically transparent screen that is THX certified without requiring any equalization. Furthermore this second layer is now also THX certified with no need of EQ, because it generates a minimum loss in the highest frequencies, and doesn't provide any comb-filter effect.

ClearPix is the only screen offering the option of an acoustically transparent and independent black backing layer on all its products (fixed screens, motorized screens, XMask and "Le Wing"). Using this double layer, which has a minimal impact on the acoustic transparency, offers a noticeable improvement on the picture contrast and avoids having to darken the area behind the screen.

The masking systems also benefit from the outstanding performances of this material when it is used as a mask. It allows positioning the left and right speakers behind the screen when required. This option is particularly valuable with the CineScope XMask, which has a 2.35 native format and allows to getÊ all the different image ratios with a constant height.

Yves Trelohan Ð Screen Research President: "The remarkable characteristic of ClearPix Black Backing and Masking Material is its minimum impact on the unmatched acoustic transparency of ClearPix2. As a black backing, the material improves the contrast ratio and avoids reflections from behind the screen (on a plasma screen, on a window or on bright loudspeakers for instance). As a masking material, it allows to position the Left and Right speakers behind the masks and makes it possible to use this set-up with no compromise in quality. This feature is in line with our constant quest for innovation and improvement and expands our ClearPix2 product range, already awarded "Product of the Year 2004" by Electronic House Magazine in the US".

John Dahl - THX: "No screen we've tested to date matches the acoustical transparency of the Screen Research ClearPix2ª fabric. Now more Home Theater enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the benefits of proper behind-the-screen placement of the center loudspeaker, with no degradation of audio or video performance."
