Providing consumers with complete home entertainment control, Philips Electronics showcased its family of Pronto Intelligent Remote Controls today at the 2004 Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) Expo. The Pronto family of remotes offers consumers a multitude of home entertainment control options. The awardwinning Pronto family allows users to personalize settings and combine all of their remote controls into one, simplifying their home theater experience.

"The entire Pronto remote control family provides consumers the ability to fully customize their home control experience," said Des Power, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Premier, Philips Consumer Electronics, North America. "Capable of controlling more than 800 consumer electronic products, the Pronto remote works with almost any home theater system. Whether using the iPronto for a total overview of everything you want to control or using your first Intelligent Remote with the ProntoNEO, the entire line is extremely versatile and will enhance the home entertainment experience."

Total overview of everything you want to control: Philips iPronto Tsi6400

Winner of the 2003 Popular Science "Best of What's New" and the Bronze IDEA (Industrial Design Excellence Award), the fully programmable iPronto TSi6400 provides a versatile solution to control home theater and home automation products. The iPronto gives consumers the ability to configure the touch screen with the help of iProntoEdit(TM) PC editing software. The product can be customized according to the comfort level of the end user. The result is easy control of multiple windows of information in one display with simple dashboard finger navigation.

With the iPronto, consumers can view information about their favorite program using the Electronic Program Guide (EPG) with Genre Selection and access the Internet to check news and email as well as utilize the multiple remote control functions. By employing Wi- Fi(R) wireless technology (IEEE 802.11b), the iPronto is able to control devices out of its line-of-sight with the optional Network Extender and has an always-on Internet connection by which new features and software can be sent to the unit by consumer request.

Battery powered, the iPronto includes a charger and a lithium ion battery. Currently available, the iPronto has a suggested retail price of $1,699.

Extreme colors, ultimate control: ProntoPro Next Generation TSU7000

Philips' ProntoPro Next Generation (NG) TSU7000 is designed to seamlessly integrate into any home theater environment. The ProntoPro NG features a sleek, cutting-edge design with a new 3.8-inch high-resolution color touch screen. The remote offers consumers endless control possibilities and the ability to expand their home theater enjoyment with extreme colors and ultimate control. Utilizing the latest thin film-transistor, TFT technology, the 32 MB1 remote boasts the best screen readability available. ProntoPro NG has an infrared (IR) code database of more than 800 brands. Additionally, the remote features improved RF technology and an optional RF extender, providing consumers with the ability to control components in cabinets or in other rooms.

For the ultimate in personalization, the ProntoPro NG includes Philips' ProntoProEdit(TM) NG software, enabling consumers to completely customize the remote's interface. With software supporting more than 65,000 colors, users can create state-of-the-art configurations, as well as customize button colors, channel icons and background colors.

Ease of use is enhanced by the new alpha blending feature, which greatly reduces set-up time when using custom backgrounds and buttons. Currently available, the ProntoPro NG includes a rechargeable docking station and has a suggested retail price of $999.

Powerful performance, flexible control: Pronto Next Generation TSU3000

Featuring a 16-color grayscale touch screen LCD with blue backlight, the Pronto Next Generation TSU3000 sports a stylish gray and polished silver casing and has 4 MB of nonvolatile flash memory. For the TSU3000, radio frequency control has been added based on the success and positive feedback of this feature in the TSU6000. The TSU3000 also includes USB connectivity for quick and easy access to ProntoEdit NG.

ProntoEdit NG Software enables Pronto users to let their imaginations take control. By synchronizing the Pronto universal remote control with a PC, today's tech-minded individuals can program their Pronto to new levels. It allows users to import graphics such as channel icons or pictures of their A/V components. The software also creates an easy environment to program and edit macro commands, customize menus and lay out the virtual buttons on the LCD screen, enabling users to control their IR devices with a single tap of the screen.

The touch screen remote also features exterior controls for additional ease-of-use. The fourdirectional navigation button allows users to easily browse through the menu screens, vertically through pages of each device and horizontally through different devices, to control most home theater components. The ProntoNEO TSU500 offers a more affordable option for consumers who want the benefit of a universal remote control that is customizable and easy-to-use. The ProntoNEO features a backlit touch-screen LCD display so users can select their favorite TV show simply by touch.

The unit incorporates 15 hard buttons for basic functions and utilizes cursor control for easier navigation through satellite or cable-box graphic interfaces. With the onboard universal database and included NEOedit(TM) software, users can customize touch screens by simply connecting or synching the remote to any PC.
