Klipsch Enhances Custom Install Offerings With 28
New Architectural Loudspeakers (22/9/2004)
At the CEDIA EXPO 2004 in Indianapolis, Klipsch
Audio Technologies will expand and strengthen its position in the
residential contracting market by introducing 28 new high-performance
architectural loudspeakers and sending a message to contractors
that Klipsch brand speakers "just sound better."
Slated to ship this fall, the extensive new
lineup includes seven different levels of in-wall and in-ceiling
products and six outdoor models. On select models, Klipsch is introducing
a new proprietary Controlled Dispersion Technology (CDT(tm)), which
uses a 90-degree by 90-degree horn design that allows the speaker
to be directed toward the listening position. Additionally, the
in-wall speakers feature a new and exclusive KWIC-Lock(tm) frame
design. This advanced two-screw mounting solution expedites the
installation process and increases cosmetic appeal.
Classified by content, the seven different
levels of new in-wall and in-ceiling products are as follows:
8000 High-Power Series (two in-wall models)
features square 90- by 60-degree pivoting Tractrix(r) Horns, an
8- or 6.5-inch Cerametallic(tm) woofer with massive voice coil and
motor structure, 1-inch titanium tweeters with 9-ounce ceramic motors,
extra rigid low resonance baffles, premium 4th order networks, as
well as treble and bass contour switches
7000 High-Power Series (two in-wall models)

or 6.5-inch IMG woofer with massive voice coil and motor structure,

The new all-weather loudspeakers feature
IMG cones and employ either a 4-, 5-, 5.25- or 6.5-inch woofer,
and the subwoofer uses an 8-inch woofer with a pass-through network
that simplifies system connection. With the ability to handle stereo
or mono configurations, the AW-500-SM, our first wide-coverage outdoor
speaker, employs two horns and one woofer for the widest coverage
possible. All of these outdoor products include an updated input
cup for improved weather resistance, a more dent resistant grille
design and a rear threaded insert for added mounting options.
According to Paul Jacobs, president of Klipsch
Audio Technologies, no single brand stands out as a leader in the
minds of the custom install consumer. "No other company is in a
better position than Klipsch to change that and emerge as the brand
asked for by name," Jacobs said.
In addition, Klipsch is introducing new installation
kits that offer increased mounting flexibility. This revolutionary
kit design will fit all of Klipsch's existing architectural models,
except the CS-650-W, and all of the new 2004 products. The kits
incorporate a mud ring and universal metal mesh wing for multi-position
placement. The brackets will be color-coded by size for easy identification.
The Klipsch logo, web address and phone number will also be molded
into the frames.
