Manufacturer of World-Leading Video Display Technology Upgrades Plasma Packages with a New Digital Processor/Controller and Adds High-Definition Plasma Monitor

Runco International, the world leader in high-end home theater video display technology, announced it is upgrading its prestigious line of flat-panel plasma monitors. The new PL-43DHD, PL-50DHD, PL-50XA, and PL-61DHD Plasma Packages now include the new, all-digital DHD(tm) Video Controller to combine high-definition plasma clarity with the DHD's industry-leading digital image processing for a new level of video realism. Runco has also announced it plans to add to its lineup the new CinemaWall(tm) CW-42HD flat panel monitor. This plasma display will feature high-definition native resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio for crystal-clear video reproduction, all in a chassis that accents dˇcor like framed artwork. With these latest enhancements, Runco's line of plasmas and plasma packages achieves unparalleled breadth and performance.

"As home video entertainment evolves toward becoming a purely digital application, Runco engineers continually develop new technology to best utilize the advantages of digital imaging," said Bob Hana, president of Runco International. "With our newest additions, the Runco plasma family represents the home video industry's most impressive collection. Now that we incorporate the DHD Digital Video Controller into our plasma packages, both our dealers and their customers will experience the benefits of a purely digital entertainment experience that is simply unmatched in quality."

As part of Runco's four new plasma packages, the DHD Digital Video Controller is programmed to specifically enhance the individual plasma with which it is being packaged. The Controller utilizes Runco's proprietary ViVix II digital processing to enhance all standard and HDTV source material for maximum clarity and precision. Its VirtualWide(tm) feature converts 4:3 images for maximum clarity on partner 16:9 plasma panels. The DHD Digital Video Controller also features Orthogonal Line Correction to adjust for unwanted time-elapsed field artifacts as well as 3:2 and 2:2 pull-down for maximum quality playback from film-originated programming. Each plasma and DHD Controller in the four new packages features Runco's streamlined industrial design, which seamlessly incorporates into any home theater environment.

Runco's newest plasma, the CW-42HD will feature 1024 x 768 native resolution and a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio to ensure maximize clarity when displaying high-definition programming. At less than five inches deep, the plasma will make a striking centerpiece for any high-end home theater. With the addition of the CW-42HD, Runco now offers ten varieties of plasma, each representing the combined expertise of Runco's research and development team, and a peerless achievement in home video entertainment quality.
