Ovation Adds Front Projection Screen Color Analyzer Capabilities to OpticONE; Color Analyzer More Accurate, Less Expensive Than Spectroradiometer (21/9/2004)

Ovation Multimedia today announced that its display calibration device, OpticONE (TM), now has the capability to improve the color accuracy of front projection screens according to manufacturer standards. OpticONE is the first color analyzer in the industry to incorporate chromaticity offset files from manufacturers.

OpticONE combines software and sensor technology to measure, analyze and calibrate the color of video displays for optimal accuracy. With its new capabilities, users will be able to use the probe and offset files from manufacturers to accurately measure the color of front projection screens and provide results similar to a spectroradiometer. OpticONE now includes more than 50 chromaticity offset files from major screen manufacturers, including Carada, Dalite, Draper, Oray, Screen Research, Stewart and Vutec.

"With this new front projection screen capability, OpticONE enables users to optimize the color accuracy of projection systems," said Guy Kuo, president of Ovation Multimedia. "By using the OpticONE probe, users can take measurements and calibrate their projection systems in real-time with more accuracy than an expensive spectroradiometer."

The OpticONE probe, based on technology licensed from Progressive Labs, is able to detect six to seven samples of light per second regardless of light level. This makes the sampling process 300 percent faster than competitive models. OpticONE's sensitivity to low light levels offers users a high degree of precision when measuring the light directly from the projector, which is often extremely low.

OpticONE works in conjunction with AVIA Professional (AVIA Pro) to instantly display graphs, eliminating the need for expensive and inefficient hardware or video pattern generators. OpticONE also has the ability to generate automated grayscale pattern reports.

OpticONE is compatible with Microsoft Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP operating systems and currently retails for the introductory price of $1,800. For a limited time, OpticONE and AVIA Pro are available for the bundled price of $2,000.
