Sun Microsystems to Be a Gold-Level Sponsor of the
OSGi Alliance 2004 World Congress; Annual Event Features Mobile,
Automotive, and Connected Home Solutions (26/8/2004)
OSGi(TM) Alliance today announced Sun Microsystems,
Inc. (Nasdaq:SUNW) as a Gold-Level sponsor for the OSGi Alliance
2004 World Congress.
With a surge of interest and the support
of companies like Sun this year's annual event themed, "Convergence:
Going Mobile, Driving, and Staying Home with OSGi Solutions" is
expected to have a record attendance. Held in Barcelona, Spain,
October 11-15, 2004, the Congress will feature pre and post event
workshops, keynote presentations, panel discussions, and exhibitions
exploring the latest end-to-end OSGi enabled products.
Carl Cargill, Sun's Director of Corporate
Standards is one of this year's keynote speakers. Carl Cargill manages
Sun's standardization strategies and activities, and is a member
of the Board of Directors of the OSGi Alliance and the Open GIS
Consortium. Additionally, Carl is a member of the W3C Advisory Board
and Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee of the IT Industry
Council.
The acceptance of the OSGi Service Platform
has exploded over the last year with framework developers, device
manufactures, and service providers releasing OSGi enabled products
and services in numerous markets, according to Deepak Kamlani, Executive
Director of the OSGi Alliance.
