Canon's New Microportable LV-7225, LV-7220, and
LV-5220 Models Suitable for Home Theater, Classroom and Business
Settings
Whether delivering a presentation, settling in
for a movie, or lecturing a group of college students, Canon's new
series of ultra portable LCD projectors provide the flexibility
and quality users require for their multimedia projection needs.
Each new model is equipped with genuine Canon optics and a 1.6x
optical zoom lens with the ability to display a 100-inch diagonal
image from only 8.2 feet. All three models have the capability to
be placed in most any size room, providing theater-sized images
from the comfort of the living room or the length of a boardroom.
"By offering projectors with high-end features
at a practical price, Canon succeeds in providing products that
can be incorporated into a variety of environments and customized
for a wide range of needs," said Yukiaki Hashimoto, senior vice
president and general manager of the Consumer Imaging Group at Canon
U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE CAJ). "Our newest
line of projectors has been developed with a diverse group of users
in mind. From teachers, to business executives, to the family at
home, Canon's newest projectors provide high-quality performance
and functionality in a micro-portable package suitable for all users'
needs."
Canon's newest projectors each weigh 6.4
pounds. The LV-7225 and LV-7220 models feature an XGA resolution
of 1024x768 and support an SXGA resolution through high-quality
compression. The LV-5220 projector features SVGA resolution and
can support an XGA resolution through high-quality compression.
All three models demonstrate quality brightness with the LV-7225
projector offering 2500 ANSI lumens, and the LV-7220 and LV-5220
models operating at 2000 ANSI lumens.
For classroom applications, Canon's new projectors
are equipped with a blackboard mode, which provide teachers and
lecturers that do not have access to a screen with the convenience
of projecting directly onto the blackboard or chalkboard. When in
this mode, these projectors automatically adjust the color balance
to offer more natural results.
Both the LV-7220 and LV-7225 projectors feature
a 350:1 contrast ratio and 85% image uniformity. The new LV-5220
projector features a 400:1 contrast ratio and 85% image uniformity.
Each new model also features a digital keystone adjustment with
+/-40 degrees (Vertical) and +/-20 degrees (Horizontal).
All three new models are equipped with progressive
scan circuitry, which converts a 480i (NTSC) or 575i (PAL) signal
to progressive using a 2:3 pulldown for improved image quality when
watching DVDs or TV programs that originated on film. Even more,
all models have a low 34dB operating noise level in Silent Mode
and include a Capture function to customize the start-up display
screen with a favorite image, company or school logo.
Each new projector can be connected to a
Canon camcorder or digital camera, providing users with the ability
to create high-impact presentations for any environment. For added
versatility, Canon's new LV-7225, LV-7220 and LV-5220 projectors
can be connected to a variety of other devices including: desktop
and laptop computers (using standard VGA or DVI input), document
cameras, DVD players or VCRs, using S-Video and RCA terminals, or
component video via the supplied VGA to component video adapter
cable. All three projectors are HDTV compatible and can be used
with various Canon projector accessories such as the LV-MI01 Multicard
Imager, LV-WN01 Wired LAN Card and LV-WN02 Wireless LAN Card.
All three new models are also equipped with
a wireless remote control, user-friendly on-screen display menu,
and available USB mouse control, which enhance operation function
and ease. Each new projector comes ready with pin code and key lock
functions, which prevent unauthorized users from using the unit.

will be available in September at authorized Canon dealers, with
a suggested list price of $2,999, $2,499, and $1,999, respectively.
