Ucentric Joins Universal Plug and Play Forum (28/6/2004)
Ucentric Systems, a leading provider of home media
networking software, today announced its membership in the Universal
Plug and Play (UPnP(tm)) Forum. The UPnP(tm) Forum is an industry
initiative dedicated to defining standards to facilitate simple
and robust connectivity among stand-alone devices and PCs from a
variety of vendors.
"With the proliferation of devices being
used on in-home networks, we are pleased to join members of the
Universal Plug and Play Forum in making connected devices in the
home a uniform and user-friendly experience," said Michael Collette,
CEO of Ucentric. "Ucentric is committed to developing a digital
home software platform that is open and interoperable and will implement
and support current and future releases of the UPnP AV Architecture
on an ongoing basis."
Formed in June 1999, the Forum is an entity
of consumer electronics, computing, home automation, home security,
appliances, printing, photography, computer networking, mobile products
and other leading companies working together in an open process
to design plans and protocol standards for the UPnP(tm) initiative.
The Forum includes member companies that play an integral role in
authoring specifications for UPnP(tm) devices and services.
