Stylish New Speakers From Artcoustic Available Through Specialist Custom Installers, Sound Experience (25/6/2004)

Speaker systems in the past have often appeared rather clumpy, drab, and more of a necessity than a pleasure to have on view. With the Artcoustic range of speakers, there is an option to choose from any of over 500 designs to feature on the front of slim-line speakers.

Having a depth of between just 2.5 to 5 inches, dependent upon model, the Artcoustic speakers hang on a wall and look just like paintings. There are various designs, ranging from ultra-modern, to plain coloured fronts. In addition, there is also the option to use a photograph or specially-commissioned design to feature on the speakers. A novel, personal and extremely successful concept!

Another factor to bear in mind, is that the fabric speaker fronts are actually detachable, so can be replaced, easily and inexpensively, as often as required. There will not be any wires that need concealing, as the company has invented its own silver cable, so flat, that when painted over, it appears invisible.

It's not simply about design, however, what about the actual speakers themselves? Artcoustic speakers employ high-quality Scandinavian speaker drivers, hand-built crossovers, and low-resonance cabinet material. Unlike other so-called "flat" speakers, they are true dynamic loudspeakers, delivering the full range and high output levels associated with studio-quality loudspeakers. To obtain this lofty performance from a thin cabinet, Artcoustic uses a proprietary technology, called QPC, which allows its speakers to provide bass performance equal to speakers having at least twice the internal volume.

With Artcoustic, there are no thick backs housing the speaker components, and there is no need to build them into the wall, as they simply need to be "hung". Everything required is within the thin design of the speakers themselves. As they are so thin, they perfectly compliment the form of plasma and LCD screens, appearing as a complete "package".
