Lutron Introduces Wallbox Power Module Residential
Lighting Control (8/6/2004)
Lutron, the world's leading manufacturer of lighting
controls, has introduced the Wallbox Power Module (WPM) as an extension
of its HomeWorks Interactive (HWI) system for residential lighting
control.
The WPM provides installers and contractors
with greater flexibility. It is extremely simple to retro-fit without
the need for rewiring once the original HomeWorks Interactive control
system has been installed. This provides cost savings in terms of
labour and equipment and makes installation much easier.
The HWI-WPM contains six independent dimmers,
which fit into a four-gang wall plate. It can control up to six
zones of light making it ideal for homeowners wanting to extend
HomeWorks functionality into other individual areas of their home
without the disruption of contractors having to run wires back to
the central dimming panel.
Susan Fox, Lutron's European marketing manager,
says: "The WPM is designed to be attached to the wall inside cupboards,
utility rooms or other locations within the home where it can be
hidden from view. The homeowner can then use the HomeWorks Interactive
keypad, attached to the interior walls of the house in full-view
of visitors, to operate the lights within each room."
Each WPM has a default scene button on the
faceplate which has pre-set scenes programmed into it so that different
lights within the room can be maximum bright light with all other
lights off. Lutron's WPM can also be easily installed close to the
lights it is controlling so that minimal line voltage wiring is
required.
The HWI-WPM will control a multitude of lighting
sources including Incandescent, Magnetic Low-Voltage, Neon/Cold
Cathode and Tungsten Halogen. It will withstand power surges without
damage or loss of operation a built-in ten-year power failure memory
ensures that lighting levels are automatically restored to pre-power
interruption levels.
