AMX Launch New Wireless Control Solutions at CEDIA
UK (1/6/2004)
Wireless control will be the focus of the AMX
stand at CEDIA EXPO 2004 in Birmingham. Along with the company's
latest wireless 7.5" and 8.4" Modero ViewPoint user interface
touch panels, AMX will be introducing a new, ultra-secure wireless
access point, offering a fast and flexible wireless network for
automated control systems in both business and residential applications.
The Modero ViewPoint touch panels are the
most versatile user interfaces in the integrated control systems
market, offering the same level of functionality as the existing
Modero touch panels with the handheld convenience and freedom of
standards-based WiFi control.
This WiFi control is further enhanced by
the new 802.11G wireless LAN access point. Designed to create fast,
flexible and, importantly, highly secure networks in business or
home environments, the new NXA-WAP200G supports any AMX touch panel
over a wide coverage area. Its wireless application protocol (WAP)
is fully compatible with the IEEE 802.11B (2.4GHz) frequency band
and forward compatible with 802.11G devices for future expandability;
particularly the ability to accommodate wireless video streaming.
Complementing the new Modero ViewPoint touch
panels, AMX will also be showing the 7" version of the company's
industry-leading 17" Modero widescreen touch panel. Offering
video capability in its hard-wired setting (flush wall-mounted or
table-top), the 7" panel has the optional facility of being
turned into an 802.11B wireless device thanks to the inclusion of
an integral PCMCIA card slot.
Supporting the Modero panel range, AMX have
released a range of exclusive, simple to use software solutions
offering enhanced system functionality. G4 Computer Control enables
any Windows or Mackintosh PC to be connected to the control network
and facilitates complete control of the PC direct from any Modero
touch panel. G4 Web Control also allows users to control electronic
devices in their homes and businesses from any location via the
internet.
Other software introductions include the
latest version of the award winning Design Xpress, a menu driven
wizard which simplifies the programming process for AMX products,
and 'PictureFrame', the first end user changeable software in the
control industry. This allows users to display their own personal
images on the Modero panel to complement any interior design, without
special control system code or re-programming.
Two other new products that enhance the usability
of AMX touch panels include water resistant bezels and a universal
VESA mounting box. The water resistant bezel for the AMX 4" touch
panel enables operation of the panel in high humidity and wet environments.
The mounting box, designed for the 17" Modero widescreen wall mount
touch panel, is compatible with any VESA 75 x 75mm mount, and provides
a flexible, ergonomic and space saving means to reposition the touch
panel interface at will.
Also on show will be the MAX product line,
a new series of personal integrated content servers designed to
store, manage and distribute audio and video data. MAX allows users
to build and control a library of up to 900 DVDs and 22,500 CDs
with ease, and to instantly play the stored media in its native
format, simultaneously into different integrated environments.
