DKT Launches FreeWay at CEDIA Ð Uniting Multiroom
A/V Systems with Straightforward Ethernet Control (1/6/2004)
DKT announces the UK launch of FreeWay, its new
Universal Ethernet A/V Gateway Controller, at the CEDIA Expo in
Birmingham on Stand F14. FreeWay is the smartest, simplest way to
unite different control interfaces via a standard TCP/IP network.
Smart homes, schools, corporate boardrooms
and many more multi-room environments are typical of the installations
that FreeWay is designed to simplify.
FreeWay provides the gateway for any browser
running on PCs, Macs, PDAs, touch screens or the internet to control
a complete home cinema, multi-room audio and home automation environment.
The 1U rack unit has 10 serial ports, a 4
way IR matrix (including IR 'decode and learn'), EIB port, Logic
I/O ports and an RJ45 Ethernet port. Its unique event matrix means
all port messaging is exchanged between all ports (Ethernet, RS232,
RS485, IR, Digital I/O), even across multiple FreeWays on the same
network or remotely across the internet.
This comprehensive control allows all types
of legacy equipment Ð TVs, audio, computers, lighting, video and
more Ð to be accessed and controlled over one wired or wireless
network. That's the power of FreeScript(TM) - massive flexibility.
Both the web server and compiler are built in to the unit so installers
have the complete solution on hand at all times.
As well as being controlled by any browser
on the network, FreeWay's facilities can also be accessed using
Macromedia Flash or even hyperlinks in a Microsoft Word document.
Its interface is designed to be open, making
it easy to integrate elegant new technologies with the FreeWay,
like Microsoft's Media Centre specification - FreeWay provides the
external adaptor that Microsoft(R) did not include.
The unit is simple to set up by an installer
without the need for specialist training Ð anyone capable of programming
a Pronto will have no problem setting up a FreeWay.
"There is a fast growing need for a very
capable, comprehensive multi-standard interface unit," says DKT
director David King. "A problem solving box that eliminates the
need for multiple control units and interfaces. FreeWay has to be
today's smartest and simplest way to unite systems, and it's very
cost effective."
DKT is currently appointing distributors
in the UK and overseas.
