smartkontrols Sheds New Light On Integrated Whole
House Control (1/6/2004)
This year's CEDIA Expo will see smartkontrols
ltd showcase a breakthrough range of new lighting control innovations,
based on Helvar's Digidim technology. Visitors to Stand H32 will
be among the first to see how smartkontrols incorporates the new
lighting control technology within its own market leading HVAC (heating,
ventilation and air-conditioning) control range. The result is a
fully rounded, state of the art environmental control solution for
the home.
With a smartkontrols system, custom installers
and other residential system specifiers can provide homeowners with
intelligent lighting control that is independent or combined with
intelligent HVAC control, complete with a wide choice of aesthetically
attractive, integrated user plates. A whole range of sophisticated
features are possible, including scene-setting, route lighting,
security, blind and curtain interlocking and the control technology
is equally suitable for anything from single room up to whole house
installations. These smartkontrols systems can also be easily integrated
with other sub-systems eg entertainment, security, etc, to provide
a complete home automation system.
Managing Director, Dave Robinson, also takes
centre stage at the event. He will be giving trade professionals
and custom installers the benefit of his expertise with an Introduction
to HVAC, presented as part of the CEDIA training seminar programme,
and two further training sessions covering interfacing smartkontrols
with Crestron and AMX respectively.
Visitors to the stand can also see how SMS
text messaging through an ordinary mobile phone can control a smartkontrols
home heating and / or lighting system. On receipt of an instruction
to adjust house temperature or lighting, the smartkontrols system
will automatically carry out the command and respond with a confirmation
message. Among the other highlights on the stand is the smartserver.
This device allows fully flexible, web-enabled access to the smartkontrols
system from any web browser, PDA or similar device. Unlike most
software-based server systems which use a PC, the smartserver is
an embedded hardware module within the control system. It enables
adjustment of settings to be made from wherever the user may be,
automatically "serving up" pages to any device which supports Internet
Explorer. Another recent development on display is smartbox, the
modular panel range designed to provide a compact, easy to access
and clean-looking enclosure for smartkontrols control modules.
