Samsung launches SA-CD players in Europe (15/4/2004)

This summer will see another major consumer electronic equipment manufacturer introducing its first combination players with SA-CD playback capabilities. Available from July and August respectively, the DVD-HD745 and DVD-HD945 represent Samsung's first venture into Super Audio CD. These sophisticated universal players are also capable of playing DVD-Video and -Audio disks.

"The players establish a new Samsung standard in high quality audio and video reproduction in the home," commented Hwang Jun-Youn from Samsung's Product Planning Team in the Digital Video System Division. "They can up-convert a video signal to the DVI or HDMI standard and by supporting Super Audio CD and DVD-Audio playback, we offer the same high quality audio."

The DVD-HD745 represents Samsung's mid-range DVD-Video player and the DVD-HD945 is an upper mid range Home Theatre system. Samsung is developing high-end models to extend SA-CD playback throughout its product range, although the decision to launch these products in Europe has not been finalized. "Samsung will support both SA-CD and DVD-Audio throughout a range of products," explained Hwang Jun-Youn. "Our product development strategy reflects consumer demand."
