Concertino Home Concert Acoustics To Debut Computer
Enhanced System That Recreates the Acoustics of Carnegie Hall and
Other World Class Live Venues (25/3/2004)
In a breakthrough for live entertainment in the
home, a consortium of Bay Area companies is helping to bring Concertino
to San Francisco.
Concertino provides computer-enhanced, concert
hall acoustics for luxury homes and select commercial spaces. Running
on a mini-mainframe computer and sophisticated software, Concertino
recreates acoustic environments similar to that of such world-class
live music venues as Carnegie Hall or the Royal Albert Hall with
the press of a button.
SH! Acoustics of Milford, CT, developed and
is marketing Concertino with local partners to capitalize on the
trend in home concerts, an increasingly popular form of entertainment
among affluent homeowners in key metropolitan regions like the Bay
Area.
The system will debut at a press preview
at 4 PM, Thursday April 1 at the new Proscenium Theater Group Showroom
at Suite 109 of the San Francisco Design Pavilion, 251 Rhode Island
Street, San Francisco.
The event will include a live music performance
with local jazz legend Richard Howell that demonstrates the power
of Concertino to be followed by a media reception. Steven Haas,
president of SH! Acoustics, who has designed more than 250 concert
halls, performing arts centers, Broadway theaters, opera houses
and other facilities, will be on hand to discuss the technology
behind Concertino.
A luxury home theater system developed by
several Bay Area companies also will be displayed following the
Concertino experience. Space is limited, and members of the media
are advised to confirm a reservation in advance. Broadcast media
can tape sections of the live performance to let audiences appreciate
how any music room can seamlessly be transformed into a space with
exceptional acoustics.
"With its reputation for fine luxury homes,
advanced technology and world class live music, San Francisco is
the perfect market for Concertino," Haas said. "We're confident
Concertino will set a new standard in home concerts for the entire
Bay Area."
Local companies working with Concertino include:
-- Beres Construction, specializing in high-end
custom projects on the Peninsula.
-- California Audio Technology, Sacramento,
leader in audiophile speakers.
-- Engineered Environments, Oakland, award-winning,
residential systems design and build firm.
