Boston Acoustics Introduces Three-Way In-Ceiling Speaker System (11/3/2004)

Realistic front imaging from an in-ceiling speaker.

Boston Acoustics, Inc., a premier manufacturer of high-performance audio solutions, today introduced its new, three-way in-ceiling speaker system, the DSi495. The new speaker system will be priced at $500 and is styled to blend into any dŽcor and skillfully engineered with a unique, rotating baffle so that the sound may be directed towards the listening position.

Mounting into the same cutout as Boston's other 8-inch in-ceiling speakers, the DSi495 speaker system features a powerful, 8-inch DCD(tm) (Deep Channel Design(tm)) copolymer woofer, a 31Ú2-inch stamped steel copolymer midrange driver, and a 1-inch Kortec(r) tweeter. Remarkably, this 3-way system positions each of the drivers in such a way as to only occupy a 9-inch diameter in its baffle-and still preserve perfectly the acoustic dispersion needed from a high-performance, front stage home theater speaker.
