Smarthome Launches Stand-Alone Home Automation Controller
at Electronic House Expo East (11/3/2004)
PowerLinc(TM) Controller Runs Home Automation
Management Software Without the Need for Powered-On PC; SwitchLinc
Timer, X10-Boosted Products Also Announced
Smarthome, Inc., the world's leading provider
of home automation products and personal gadgets, today introduced
its PowerLinc(TM) Controller, a plug-in module that allows users
to run home automation management software without the need for
a powered-on PC, as well as an automated light switch with a built-in
timer and X10-enhanced products at the Electronic House Expo East
in Orlando.
The PowerLinc Controller includes Smarthome
Manager Essential software, a new home automation scheduling application
designed for flexibility and ease- of-use. The software downloads
program data from a PC to the controller via a USB connection.
PowerLinc Controller users can store more
than 1,000 commands in a memory chip inside the controller module,
allowing users to conveniently control and monitor their home automation
devices, such as scheduling timer events for lighting or other devices,
setting commands by room or section of the home, or maintaining
a master reference list of all commands and devices.
Also being introduced at EH Expo East is
SwitchLinc Timer, a relay version of Smarthome's SwitchLinc product
with a built-in timer that turns off a light after a pre-set time
period of up to 45 minutes.
Smarthome will also be launching top-selling
products from the company that now incorporate BoosterLinc(TM) technology.
BoosterLinc strengthens the X10 signal -- the technology that enables
automated devices to communicate via the home's existing electrical
wiring -- to ensure a reliable home automation network.
"With these products, users can now expect
both convenient and reliable control of their home automation devices,"
said Joe Dada, president and CEO of Smarthome, Inc. based in Irvine,
Calif. "These proprietary products are part of Smarthome's mission
to bring the highest level of quality and satisfaction to the home
automation experience."
PowerLinc Controller users can upgrade to
Smarthome Manager Plus which provides additional control and monitoring
of home automation devices such as setting up "conditionals," which
may be based on X10 device status, time, date, motion or other variable;
or scheduling sequences of frequently used commands. PowerLinc Controller
is also compatible with Home Control Assistant software for the
PC and Indigo software for the Macintosh.
