Micro Linear to Demonstrate Interactive Digital Wireless
Audio and Video at Wireless Systems Design Expo (9/3/2004)

Micro Linear Corporation (NASDAQ:MLIN) will be
demonstrating its cost-effective wireless streaming media solution
in booth #118 at the Wireless Systems Design Expo in San Diego.
Visitors will witness interactive full-motion video and audio as
it is transmitted live over a radio link using one of the company's
low cost wireless transceivers. Micro Linear believes its proprietary
wireless products offer higher data rate, longer range, higher Quality
of Service (QoS), longer battery life and lower cost than standards-based
solutions. Manufacturers of powered speakers, home theatre systems,
wireless headphones, security systems, wireless microphones and
many other portable products can benefit from the freedom of spectrum
choice as well as the ease of design that Micro Linear's products
offer.
Micro Linear will also be showing several
proven radio reference designs for low power and long-range applications
at both 2.4GHz and 900MHz. These designs should reduce risk and
time to market for our customers implementing the company's high
quality radios into their products. The company's flagship product;
the ML5800 5.8GHz digital wireless transceiver, will also be on
display. All of Micro Linear's transceivers (ML5800 at 5.8GHz, ML2724
at 2.4GHz, and ML2722 at 900MHz) are easy to design with, since
they provide the required active circuitry for transmit, receive,
and frequency synthesis in a single surface mount package.
All of these devices are programmable over
a simple serial interface by an inexpensive microcontroller or application-specific
baseband processor. The 1.5 megabit-per-second (Mbps) data rate
minimizes latency and offers high fidelity while closed-loop modulation
allows virtually unlimited transmit duration, which is well suited
for highly asymmetric (or even unidirectional) streaming media applications.
The radios are frequency-agile and can avoid narrowband interference,
unlike SAW-based designs.
Micro Linear CEO and President, Tim Richardson
commented, "Our streaming media demonstrations clearly speak to
Micro Linear products' superior value in many wireless applications
beyond our strong position in the domestic cordless telephone market.
Through these demos, reference designs, and our substantial new
product development activities, Micro Linear is applying and proving
its expertise to many different wireless applications including
global portable communications products."
