Bristol Show Report 2004 'Busy 17th year' (27/2/2004)

Bristol Show reaches 2002 levels of business, but not up to the record levels of 2003

* Numbers were up on Friday indicating even more serious enthusiasts taking the day off.

* Attendance down slightly on Sat and Sunday.

* Overall business was exceptionally good, considering the current recession and lack of activity in specialist retail

* Over 900 Trade & press attended

* Visitors from 19 foreign countries inc overseas distributors

We are delighted to report yet another successful Bristol Show Held last weekend, the show was busy, sales were down but good, press attendance was up and trade attendance was strong, despite much stricter registration requirements.

1. Sales of accessories reach record levels, as enthusiasts took the opportunity to tweak their systems.

2. Sales of expensive items were down. AV maybe more than stereo

3. A number of large sales were recorded, inc Wilson Benesch Curves at £5000.00. Yamaha AZ9 at £3000.000 and a Sim2 projector at £7000.00

4. 172 brands exhibited from over 100 exhibiting companies

Press attendance up again

Over 80 press attended and the show press reception on Friday was very successful, with over 55 real press through the door and almost no freeloaders. Thanks to DTS and Sony for sponsoring this event.

Trade strong

Bristol is now THE trade show a remarkable 904 visitors registered as trade & press. Exhibitors were delighted, many taking valuable trade orders.

* STATS NOTE - registration criteria for press and trade were tightened up this year so these figures represent a real increase in attendance

Overseas visitors up again

Trade visitors arrived from 19 countries inc Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, India, USA, Malaysia, Iceland, Germany, Denmark, Holland, Spain, Canada, USA, Bangladesh, Chile, Russia and the Ukraine

Visitors from all over UK

Enthusiasts came from all over the country, especially from London, the Midlands and the M4/M5 corridors. A fair number travelled from the North, East Anglia, NE England and Scotland.

Visitor profile

Once again exhibitors commented that visitors were focused, interested and educated. Not too many tyre-kickers !

Show moves one week later to miss half-term. The national show based in bristol Friday 25 to Sunday 27 February 2005.
