Mitsubishi's New DLP Projector Powered by DPTV 3DPRO
Ranked Number One High-End Projector in Japan (11/2/2004)
Trident Technologies Inc, a subsidiary of Trident
Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: TRID), and a world-wide leader in developing
cutting-edge digital TV technology for the consumer digital video
marketplace, today announced that Mitsubishi's new LVP-D2010 Home-Cinema
DLP Projector powered by Trident's DPTV(TM)3DPRO video processor
has been ranked as the number one high-end projector for 2003 by
the prestigious HiVi magazine in Japan.
"The LVP-D2010 projector recreates video
images with a great sense of realism and fidelity due to its wide
dynamic video contrast range and the capability to display video
pictures with natural vividness. While watching DVD movies, the
details of the image and the richness of color are truly astonishing,
resulting in a very pleasurable viewing experience. In displaying
dark video scenes, the LVP-D2010 is particularly impressive as compared
to other branded DLP projectors because the LVP-D2010 has the excellent
S/N performance ratio to precisely show low luminance areas," quoted
the HiVi magazine projector reviews, 2003.
"We are really excited to learn that the
Mitsubishi DLP projector powered by DPTV(TM)3DPRO has received the
number one ranking by the most respectable audio-video home theater
magazine, HiVi, in Japan. This is the ultimate testament to DPTV(TM)3DPRO's
outstanding video enhancement prowess," said Dr. Jung-Herng Chang,
president of Trident Technologies Inc. "The home-theater projector
demands the best video images to be shown on the large screen. DPTV(TM)3DPRO
integrates an advanced 3-D digital comb color decoder, object-based
intelligent digital noise reduction, and the DETI engine to produce
the most crisp and natural-looking video images. Furthermore, Trident's
proprietary DCRe(TM), (digital-cinema-reality-engine) technology
delivers vivid cinema-realistic motion and still images for high-performance
DLP projection engines. In our newest generation DPTV(TM)SVP chip,
which is pin-to-pin compatible with previous generation chips, we
have pushed the quality level another step higher. Trident is fully
committed to continue supplying our existing customers with easily
upgradeable solutions to raise the quality standards of video images."
Trident's DPTV(TM)3DPRO integrates an advanced
third-generation 3-D digital comb video decoder for NTSC, PAL, and
SECAM formats. Trident's 3-D digital video decoder reads consecutive
horizontal scanning lines within each video frame making corrections
as it goes, to ensure maximum picture detail and resolution. Based
on Trident's patented proprietary unified memory architecture (UMA),
DPTV(TM)3DPRO digital comb video decoder requires no extra frame
buffers for performing 3D comb filtering. With film-mode recovery,
DPTV(TM)3DPRO correctly detects the frame rates of incoming video
sources, and then dynamically restores the video source to the original
film mode sequences in play back. The motion adaptive de-interlacing
and edge-smoothing feature of the DPTV(TM)3DPRO refines the video
display quality. The DPTV(TM)3DPRO enables a SDTV signal to display
in Picture-in-Picture mode, Picture-Out-Picture mode, and 16:9 or
4:3 aspect ratio modes.
