The new 2.1 speaker system adds deeper bass from the slim subwoofer and better surround effects due to the point source effect of the smaller satellites. The 100 watt sub also allows higher system volumes to be reached.

The M71 is the first Audio/Video system in the world with Dolby Virtual Speaker the latest format from Dolby. Only made possible by the recent dramatic increases in processing power available, Virtual Speaker does an amazing job of delivering apparently multi-channel surround sound from just two front speakers. Signals are decoded into 5.1 channels and then processed by Virtual Speaker, to produce a clear faux centre and surround localization that is better than any virtual system so far.

This is NOT a challenge for real surround systems, it IS a unique solution for consumers who want to add DVD and dramatically improve their TV sound, but who will never fill their room with speakers. They will not need to set up centre and surround speakers, or worry about where to place them.
