Linn ARTIKULAT Loudspeaker System (2/2/2004)

ARTIKULAT is a gorgeous sounding new high-performance loudspeaker system from Linn which combines simply stunning performance with luxurious appearance. The ARTIKULAT system consists of four distinct, sonically and aesthetically matched loudspeakers which feature the latest proprietary Linn technologies including active servo bass, the 3-K Driver Array and the new Linn CHAKRA high-efficiency power amplification to deliver sumptuous, expressive and totally communicative playback.

The ARTIKULAT system contains three full-range models which are available in either active-bass or fully active guise. The ARTIKULAT 350A floor-standing loudspeaker, ARTIKULAT 320A compact loudspeaker and the ARTIKULAT 340A centre-channel loudspeaker are powered and fully active versions, whereas the ARTIKULAT 350, ARTIKULAT 320 and the ARTIKULAT 340 centre-channel loudspeaker variants all feature active bass but with passive cross-overs for the upper-bass, mid-range and high-frequency drive units. A dedicated active, servo-driven bass re-enforcement loudspeaker, the ARTIKULAT 345, completes the range.

All of the models in the ARTIKULAT loudspeaker system are built around exquisite complex pressure-formed natural laminate cabinets to form an exceptionally rigid construction. The result is a series of beautifully discreet designs with ultra-low resonance properties.

ARTIKULAT 350A
A fully active five-way floor-standing loudspeaker featuring an enhanced Linn 3-K Driver Array, sandwich cone upper bass driver, two multi-bias, long throw servo-driven bass drive units and 1750 watts of integrated Linn CHAKRA hum and buzz-free, efficient, cool-running `Silent-Power' amplification.

ARTIKULAT 350
As ARTIKULAT 350A but featuring advanced passive crossovers for upper-bass and 3-K Driver Array, and a total of 1000 watts of integrated CHAKRA power amplification.

ARTIKULAT 320A
A fully active 4-way stand-mountable compact loudspeaker featuring the enhanced 3-K Driver Array and 750 watts of integrated Linn CHAKRA amplification.

As ARTIKULAT 320A but featuring advanced passive crossovers for the enhanced 3-K Driver Array and a total of 500 watts of integrated CHAKRA power amplification.

Servo-controlled 500 watt bass reinforcement sealed loudspeaker enclosure, featuring 12" drive unit.

The unique 3-K Driver Array is a precision machined die-cast component housing an optimized and acoustically matched grouping of the mid-range, high-frequency and super high-frequency drive units. It is designed and manufactured to ensure an exceptionally wide horizontal and vertical dispersion, precise high-frequency response and single point source accuracy. The superbly balanced sound stage is wonderfully natural and open for perfectly stable stereo and seamless surround sound performance.

Linn servo-controlled bass technology extends Linn's renowned pitch-accurate low frequency reproduction and ensures minimal distortion by constantly measuring and comparing driver motion to the original audio signal and modifying amplifier power output to compensate for any non-linearity of the bass driver. The result is slide-rule low-frequency response and exceptional linearity.

Utilised on all models within the ARTIKULAT system is CHAKRA - Linn's latest innovative `Silent Power' amplification development. This revolutionary patent-pending crossover-distortion-free hybrid amplifier topology combines the speed and precision of integrated MOSFET technology with the smoothness and ruggedness of Bipolar technology perfectly at all listening levels, and the result is a seductive high-efficiency and unprecedented ultra-linear solution with the precision and power to ensure the listener will be held captive by the sound.

The ARTIKULAT 350, 320 and 340 can be alternated simply between active bass and fully externally active configurations with a choice of advanced precision-engineered active and passive crossovers. A rigid cast metal base with adjustable feet provides a solid and stable foundation for the floor-standing ARTIKULAT 350A/350 and with the addition of a column will also support the compact ARTIKULAT 320A/320 and, with two additional columns, the ARTIKULAT 340A/340 centre-channel loudspeakers.
