Thin Profile, Pro Audio InConcert Technology Define New Altec Lansing FX6021 Powered Audio System (19/1/2004)

One-Inch Thin Satellite Towers Complement Today's Thin Video Displays, Yet Deliver Pure, Distinct Sound Horizontally; Experience Mirrors Feeling of Great Concert Halls

Thin is "in" once again-at least in cutting-edge entertainment technology. Flat panel displays, plasma screens, thin film transistor (TFT) monitors all define the next age of video. And now ... there is a sound system to match.

Altec Lansing(R) Technologies, Inc., the leader in the design and manufacture of Powered Audio products, announces its FX6021 Powered Audio system, featuring exclusive InConcert(TM) technology. Encased in tower-format satellites as slim and elegant as the video displays they're designed for, the FX6021 transports listeners by uniquely creating the illusion of the world's great concert halls, where sound is as clear and personal in the back of a room as it is in the front row.

Altec Lansing's FX6021 is a pro audio product disguised for home use. Unlike conventional audio systems that can overload a room with sound, causing it to reverberate off walls and ceilings, the FX6021 fuses advanced line-array and tri-amp technologies from the professional audio world to project sound horizontally, directly at the listener. The effect is something that must be heard to be believed.

"InConcert technology can transform the home listening experience," said Bob Garthwaite, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing for Altec Lansing Technologies. "With the FX6021 we've leveraged our decades of experience to bring concert-level audio excellence to any family room, home office, or den. Its development represents a synergy of design and technology."

Thin, Modern Design

The FX6021 system is comprised of two slender, 1-inch thin tower satellites and a ported subwoofer. The system's design and brushed aluminum finish complements and enhances flat panel displays. Each satellite not only has a pivoting base for tabletops or shelves, but also can be mounted next to wall-hung video screens with the bases removed, to accommodate any room or equipment configuration.

A close look at the satellite units provides the first hint of Altec Lansing's InConcert technology. Each one houses six shielded, full-range neodymium micro drivers set apart at precise, logarithmically- calculated distances. Three separate amplifiers are also incorporated, each powering one pair of drivers per satellite.

Using sophisticated frequency filtering techniques, the FX6021 directs different frequencies of sound to a different pair of drivers. This, combined with the critical distance between each driver, creates the extraordinary InConcert(TM) effect. Adding resounding, full-throated bass is the 6.5" subwoofer, housed in a low-resonance wooden cabinet.

Perfect for Music, Home Theater

Altec Lansing's FX6021 Powered Audio system requires no external amplification source to operate, yet delivers a Sound Pressure Level (SPL) of 105 dB -- enough to satisfy any music or home theater application. Two control units, a wireless remote and wired control pod, are included as well, making operation easy from desktop or sofa.

Rounding out the system's convenience features are a headphone jack and an auxiliary input jack for easy playback of audio from MP3/CD players or other alternative sources.

Altec Lansing's revolutionary FX6021 Powered Audio system with InConcert Technology is priced at $299.00 (MSRP).
