VConnect - A Breakthrough in AFH Technology (2/1/2004)

For the first time in the United States, PSB Corporation launches VConnect, a digital wireless audio module based on, Adaptive Hopping Spread Spectrum (AHSS) technology. VConnect is commercially ready for production.

Benefits of VConnect

Automatic switching of channels, minimal interference.

Many wireless audio devices such as wireless LAN (802.11b) operate in the 2.4GHz frequency spectrum. VConnect is able to co-exist with such wireless devices, because it offers AHSS; which remains in one of the 79 frequency channels in the 2.4GHz, till interference is detected.

VConnect automatically determines the channel which has the least interference, before switching to an unused frequency channel and continuing audio transmission.

Digital Audio CD quality

VConnect offers digital audio CD quality, as compared to most current wireless audio devices that use analog transmission, based typically on the Frequency Modulating (FM) technique. Such conventional wireless audio devices generally have lower audio quality.

The audio quality of VConnect is comparatively better than analog wireless audio devices because it uses digital wireless technology.

Signal-to-Noise Ratio of 93dB

VConnect can achieve a Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of more than 93dB via a digital audio interface (I2S) and at least 82dB via an analog audio interface.

The SNR of VConnect's latest version (which is still under development) has been further improved to more than 86dB using an analog audio interface.

Wide Frequency Response

VConnect has a wide frequency response of between 20 Hz to 20 kHz, which allows users to experience superior audio quality.

Optimal Design Flexibility : Chip Antenna

The design of VConnect has been optimised, so that it can be operated using either a chip antenna or an external antenna.

VConnect has been optimised to operate on the chip antenna which can be embedded inside the audio player and speaker unit, thus improving the overall aesthetic design.

Small Size

VConnect is highly customizable and has been designed to be small and compact (55mm x 50mm), for easy integration into audio systems and speakers.

Real-time Wireless Audio Delivery

End-to-end audio transmission of VConnect is optimised at 12ms, well within industry standards of real-time audio transmission.
