TAP is OpenHouse's Total Answer to Simplified Structured
Wire Terminations (23/12/2003)
Total Access Port, or TAP for short, is a line
of wall plate products for facilitating the convergence and termination
of various household technologies, including video, audio, computer,
telephone, and home automation control signals. Manufactured by
OpenHouse Structured Wire Systems, part of the Linear Electronics
Group, TAP wall plates are home-theater-ready and household-network-ready,
dramatically simplifying the job of installing home entertainment,
communications, safety, and automation equipment. Each TAP comes
pre-configured and pre-assembled to save installers time and assure
a tight connection. Each is also self-mapping for clear terminal
assignments, saving more time and adding to installer accuracy.
A variety of TAP models are available, providing
tremendous flexibility in tailoring connection options (telephone
wiring, video signals, computers) to specific rooms throughout the
house.
* The Dual Data (WPx-DD) model combines two
CAT5e RJ-45 connectors for hooking up computer networks.
* The Data/Telephone (WPx-DP) model has one
CAT5e RJ-45 connector for computers and four RJ-25 telephone jacks
breaking out each line to an individual jack.
* The Data/Telephone/Coax (WPx-PDC) model
offers one CAT5e RJ-45 connector for computers, two RJ-25 telephone
jacks, plus two knockouts for use with coax barrel connectors (included
with the plate).
* The Telephone/Coax (WPx-PC) model includes
four RJ-25 telephone jacks for break-out lines for telephone, plus
two knockouts for use with supplied coax barrel connectors.
TAP wall plates will be on display at the
2004 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, January
8-11, 2004 in Las Vegas. The Linear Electronics Group booth is #17682
in the Las Vegas Convention Center South, 1 and 2.
